Hi all, please advice the method to go about designing a annular raft for a tank ring beam. Could the choice be to design the strip footing/raft as per the method used is design footing for walls or I need to determine radial and circumferential moments.
Hi guys,
Please how do u check for seismic bearing capacity of soil response under a raft. Is it advisable to use load combination 5 and 7? Do I need to define it a liner load cases or nonlinear load cases.
Thank you.

Please, can you again use load combination 5 and 7 to determine the seismic bearing capacity soil under the footing? Do u have to define the load case as a nonlinear load cases? Or perhaps there are other methods.
Regards.
Hello fellow engineers,
I think there is no one way in modelling soil stiffness as links or area Springs. Most handbooks I have read about soil structure interactions with raft foundations always uses area Springs. Let me share my method even though I have not concluded it's the best way.
I...
Hello all,
Please, how can we determine the bearing stress of a footing in etabs and comparing it with allowable bearing pressure. Does anyone has this experience in ETABS?
Can you share your non linear load cases? Did u model the soil structure interactions in etabs, how do you identify when there is an uplift?.
@avecillasjavier, please what value should be used for the restraint in the X and Y direction. What I did was to select the nodes of the raft and assign...
Hello mates,
Please i want to perform a soil structure interaction in etabs 2013. I have assigned area spring of 60000KN/M2/M, in the 3 direction, is my definition correct. I was confused if the modulus of subgrade needs to be negative.
I also want to know how to place a restraints in the x...
