Does it may any sense to request a circular lay on a cylindrical feature produced using a common lathe operation?
The lay looks perpendicular to the view plane when looking at a section. And conversely, the lay looks parallel when looking down along the axis of the feature.

Finding an off the shelf item was indeed the goal as we don't deal in massive quantities, and our customers often ask for odd materials to boot (HC276, Monel, etc).
I think I'll push for normal socket head bolts if they'll stand up to the torque.
I'm searching for a DIN (or ISO, CEN) standard for 12-point flange bolts that will fit into a standard counter-bore hole for socket head capscrews ala SAE J58 (IFI-115). The only hits I've come across using Google, are of the wide flange variety.
