@Agent666 I already do the same with my case, a fin plate welded with base plate the fin plate bolted between back to back column ,just in my case I left a gap of 150mm between the two sections , i means that i have two fin plate spaced 1500 mm. Thank you islemBase plate

design of cold formed column base plate connection

Hi Lo; the column is back to back there is no track section at bottom, but it is connected with a base plate which has a thickness of 20mm,i provided a fixed connection because i have already designed the model ,and the column status engineering passed normally. i am just trying now to design...

cold formed portal frame of 22,5 m span

In this case that the top chord is maintained by purlins ,in the other side the button chord is free . Purlins used to act as permanent bracing shall be adequately attached to the top and bottom chords and to a diagonal brace or diaphragm. Purlin spacing shall be considered in determining the...

cold formed portal frame of 22,5 m span

Hi, I am actually designing a cold formed portal frame of 22,5 m span , i wonder if i need strap bracing between frames to ensure the lateral stability of building and avoid local buckling of chords? thanks Islem. islem

    cold formed portal frame SAP200

Note that the spa is not very important concerning rafters, for columns are 4 metres so i don't see the obligation of using Hot rolled shape for this. we have already designed and executed a portal of 26 m using cold formed steel shapes for trusses and Hot rolled for column because of its...

    cold formed portal frame SAP200

i think that i didn't distribute well the loads in frames i:e some loads are smaller then others in the wind for exemple ,but note that the snow loads are 0,34Kpa so it's very heavy for such cold formed portal with very important Pitch as well. @DaveAtkins we are trying to improve and use cold...

    cold formed portal frame SAP200

the loads generating failure are wind and snow and the vertical loads of roof and the own weight of structure, the section that i opted for my portal is C250x65x20 2,5mm of thickness ,concerning the nature of failure it's buckling but why just in one side my columns aren't safe about the last...
