Material transformed from coil into plate.

The mill certifies the chemical analysis but the tensile test only get done after de-coiling in the beginning center and tail of the coil. The certs from the mill are written "SA-414 for conversion" because they have not completed the complete required testing. Thanks

Material transformed from coil into plate.

Hello, I am in the process of looking to purchase a coil of SA414-G that would be converted to plate and used in a pressure vessel. After discussing with the mill and the decoiler, they have both proposed the following: 1) The coil manufacturer supplies the analysis of the chemical properties...

Sec VIII Div 1 Appendix 47

Ken, I took the lack of response to mean that everyone was equally confused... My shop is in the same situation for the seismic calculations and came to the same conclusion as you. Regards James

    Hot forming repair

r6155, Ask questions if you need more information. These are the photo I have on hand. I don't have the vessel sitting beside my desk. Yes, we have a serious problem that needs to be fixed. The transport had a mechanical failure. The tractor trailer rolled over in the ditch. We have a good...

    Hot forming repair

r6155 These are the only pictures I currently have. Dent is about .625 deep and 12" in diameter. The dent is unacceptable to the client. For this particular client using the acceptance criteria of the NBIC isn't an option. The tank must look like new.

    Hot forming repair

Good morning, I'm trying to write a procedure for deformation (dent) repairs that will be acceptable to the NBIC and Section VIII Div 1. My plan is to gather as much information as possible and present in to our Authorized Inspector for review so that in future cases we won't be restarting an...

Sec VIII Div 1 Appendix 47

Hello, I'm looking for input regarding the how people are interpreting the new 2021 appendix 47. This is a preliminary draft I've written and was wondering what you folks thought. (Note I work for a div 1 company, but found the Div 2 appendix to be a much more comprehensive guide) For the...

    RC-1050 NBIC

Hello, I have a reference in my Quality manual to RC-1050 for replacement parts. A google search brings up NC-1050 in different NBIC interpretations, but I can't seem to track down the document itself. Is it obsolete? If anyone knows where I can get this document it would be appreciated...

When to use ULT for vessel construction?

Good morning, We are looking to build a vessel made out of SA240-316L. The MDMT would be -320deg F at 165 PSI. The restrictions of ULT are "alternative rules" per the title of the section. Due to this title our engineering dept does not see the need to apply it to our vessel, they would...
