    Sketch Cosine Function Curve

Hi Everyone - I am looking for the best way to sketch/plot points/etc the following function: X = -.15/2 * COS(360 * 4 * Y) + .15/2 This curve will be attached to a profile that will be swept. I am looking for the smartest and best way to do this. I don't know how to apply this to a 'curve'...

Sweep Along a Guide String and Maintain Cross Section Orientation

I have attached 2 pictures. One shows my cross section and guide strings. The guide strings were created by intersecting 2 surfaces. When I do a 'Sweep Along Guide' the cross section rotates slightly by the end of the sweep. Is there something I can to to maintain that orientation of the cross...

Create a Curve from 2 Surfaces

Many years ago and several NX versions ago I used to be able to create a curve by intersecting 2 surfaces (if I remember correctly). Is this functionality still available to me? Thanks in Advance. Jim Weisner Senior Designer General Electric Company NX V12.0.1 MP02

We use Space Pilot Pro's here for N

We use Space Pilot Pro's here for NX work. Is there a way I can make it function with NX only?? I don't want to use it for anything else. If this has already been asked I apologize in advance. I could not find anything. Thanks ~ Jim Weisner Senior Designer General Electric Company

    WCS of Datum Plane

I've attached a pic of my session. I've been testing this to see if the orienting of the CSYS on the Datum Plane will change with different Datum Planes and different starting CSYS's. The Datum CSYS in the pic represents the Absolute CSYS. I haven't found anything changes it. No matter what I do...

    WCS of Datum Plane

I have datum planes in my model and I orient the WCS to the CSYS of the Object. I select a datum plane. What determines the direction of the X and Y axis? I am using NX V10. Thanks ~ Jim Weisner Senior Designer General Electric Company

    Arc Sketch Keeps Flipping

Thanks. The problem is the ends of the arc are tied to datum planes that are located other ways. The arc goes along for the ride and fills in the space. Unfortunately it flips when it crosses above/below 180 degrees. Jim Weisner Senior Designer General Electric Company

    Arc Sketch Keeps Flipping

I have an arc segment sketch that is extruded and given a thickness in a start part. The start arc is >180 degrees. When the start part is modified to make another part and the arc segment is to be <180 degrees, the sketch flips to give the >180 segment. If I want a 120 degree arc segment it...

    Presentation Video Part Callout/Identification

I'm very new to Inventor and we are primarily using models and assemblies to make assembly videos of the parts. Is there a way to show the ID of each part as it is assembled? My apologies for being a newb but trying to learn. Thanks ~ Jim Jim Weisner Senior Designer General Electric Company

    Rotate PMI Views by Expression?

Is there a way to rotate PMI views in models by expression? I don't want to rotate the view every time I generate a new part. I want it to rotate itself by expression. I have an arc piece with a radial arm on it. The part is built as part of an assembly driven by sketches at the assembly level...

PMI, Anglular Dimensions and Part Families

We are trying to make a seed part with embedded PMI for designers to use here. It's a 'C' shaped part with an angular dimension. That angle can vary to just about any value. We will have several of these parts per job so the thought is to use Part Family functionality to create and control all...
