Chinese 2 pole AC induction spindle motors go 18,000 and are not as bad as their total junk VFD drives. Price is hobby level. Google those words. You can get a couple kw 18000rpm motors for $ 300.00 More info on forums like cnczone, practicalmachinist.

There are many pros and cons to in-wheel motors. Obviously more cons than pros or it would be the way it is done. Companies I work with daily make in-motor size PMAC motors; it certainly sounds sexy but absolutely would not be my first choice with all the 'cons.'

I received $ 95.00 in class action suit against small engine mfgr used in my John Deere lawn tractor: 26 HP in 1' cube space! Must have been that overhead cam design...
Here is the spec on the Delphi EV PMAC motor I had in my equinox conversion. Check out the field weakening area 1600 -...
I should not have posted, sorry. I ASSUMED this was a typical +/-10v analog input command servo. Looking at their website, there are NO specs for input command; it seems to be a tiny model car controller! So all our comments about 24V PWM harming the command input are out the window with no...
Late to the party, but comment non the less... Zener means making the input non linear. Don't do it.
Instead, use a voltage divider to reduce 24v peak to 10v peak: so do the math. Short the math, use a 15k in series with a 10k resistor, and feed the servo from the junction of them...
And remember with the "buried magnet" design they can run WAY into field weakening high speed; The common delco PMAC EV motor runs 3-4-5-10 times higher than base speed.

Shepard, Jraef explained why your speed is lower than commanded. You explained that you see overloads. You explained you increase current limit somewhere from 40 to 60 amps and it helped. You said across the line it runs [because that allows extra overloading that the vfd prevents. All 4 of...
HaHa! I deserved that for not going to your webssite to get email!
Let us know if any of the 3 1ph electronic 60hz to 50hz conveter boxes I found online work for you.

The S600 drives were designed to be powered ONLY from a WYE power source; ie., the X0, center of the wye, aka nuetral to some, MUST be tied to PE.
If you power this drive from any type of delta or non wye without X0 tied to PE, then it is not UL or CE certified; this is all shown very clearly...
itsmoked, I would only correct you if you stated something not quite true; since you & electricpete are spot on, no corrections forthcoming! HA!
I assume the motors in question are AKM models, in which case, yes, they are totally sealed and IP65 minimum with IP67 a small fee option. Others...
Thank you Scotty. He did. After talking to him I told him I would summarize and pass on his info and need to a local Chicago area engineer I know who can help, as well as a PLC wizard here who travels. I did not want to just be the only one offering names of folks who might help him. As Jraef...
"What are the drawbacks to servo motors? What is the difference between the motors we are using and the servo motors?"
Only "drawback" to servo motor is more cost. But if the stuff you have now is not doing the required job, is a bit more cost a drawback?
