I think everybody is taking a break before the NTSB report comes out. The only recent news is a Tony Pipitone report about the creative book keeping used in MCM's bankruptcy.
The idea that FDOT was hesitant for any reason is pretty suspicious, because they have apparently have a reputation for heavy handed bid-rigging in the Miami area.
Side note on this June, 2017 article - the favored bid by Fluor-Astaldi-MCM that FDOT screwed over was a design by .......... FIGG.
According to the OSHA report, page 14, the selection committee was made up of FIU officials, the City of Sweetwater, and FDOT. TY Lin, which prepared the design criteria, wasn't a part of the selection committee.
