I’m using Staad pro software for analysis and design, this is a shopping complex and a truss is used in floor and secondary floor beams connecting to truss.
In this software I have to assign the buckling length along major and minor axis of the member and top and bottom chord is continuous member.

yes, you are right hokie's and green. we can't able to achieve the complete penetration butt weld due to more inclination, so weld strength will reduce.
