TiCl4,
Yes, I work in a TiO2 plant.
We had issues with moisture in our air lines before and that triggered the question of using Nitrogen as a motive fluid for the pneumatic positioner on the control valve.
We conducted a “What If”, as was recommended. There is atmospheric monitoring in the...
Good morning,
Thanks for all your feedback. This installation is not for the chlorosilane project (it is still in development stages).
This is a control valve located on a nitrogen purge system to a star valve packing - sometimes chlorine entrapped in the system. The building has nitrogen lines...
Hello,
If possible, can I get some thoughts on the use of Nitrogen as a motive fluid for the pneumatic positioner on the control valve? The valve is located inside a building that has some air movement. It also has a O2 analyzer for oxygen deficient atmospheres.
Is it really better utilizing...
Thank you all for all your input. Seams the right number is between 2 and 3 tanks at least for our purposes, all things considered. This was very informative, as always.
TiO2, MJCronin and all, thank you!
Yes, this is for the production of liquid chlorine. Currently the chlorine is used directly from railcars, so the idea is to have it coming to us directly piped over. (We are experiencing chlorine availability constrains).
The idea is not to transport it via...
I am editing my previous note: I am mostly interested in regulatory compliance side.
The site I work at is planning to build a new chlor-alkali plant for the production of chlorine, which we use many railcars of every month.
I am trying to find out if from a PSM standpoint there are guidelines...
Hello,
If possible, can I get your thoughts on if it is better to have one big tank of a toxic material onsite or several small tanks??
Is there any process safety guideline (or standard) that can help me with that?
Thanks in advance!
Hello,
our plant has the maximum intended inventory on all the chemicals we have on site (includes vessels, piping, etc.).
I am trying to find out if there is a limit on how many Chlorine railcars we can have on site.
Under Title 40 C.F.R. Part 68 - Chemical Accident Prevention Provisions it...
MJCronin,
Thank you so much for the links and additional information on this topic.
I was wondering if adding a N2 pad to a tank has some environmental permitting concerns that more toluene would be pushed to atmosphere through the breather?
Thank you.
Yes, this was a typo. I meant to say toluene tank.
Our toluene tanks don't have a nitrogen pad, but have flame arrestors included as passive isolation techniques, we assume this approach was chosen in the past as the preferred way to preventing and controlling toluene tank explosions.
Would this...
Hello,
One of our plants has a nitrogen tank that is not padded with nitrogen, it is a in-ground tank.
And similarly, another toluene tank, above ground does have a nitrogen pad.
Are toluene tanks required to have a nitrogen pad to protect against fire potential?
Thank you,
sarah
Hello!
I have some questions regarding the requirements on lifting levers for relief valves as it applies to a project I am working on.
The relief device in question features a packed lifting lever. The devices intent is to protect a positive displacement pump and its piping...
