We had a situation once we were considering hdpe pipes instead of MS. But that idea has been dropped. Still wondering polyethylene ... is it a choice for CHW piping?
sorry, i did see this is already discussed in below thread in september

So the static head is zero in a closed system. And only friction losses and coil losses to be considered.
We are storing the chilled water in tanks which are about 15 meters lower level than chiller.
What would be...
Dear Sirs,
Calculating a circulation pump head in a pressurized closed loop for the below scenario.
Attached a simple schematic.
A booster having more head (up to 6 bar) and low volume flow, pressurizes a tank and maintains the pressure in the closed loop, supply and return.
Circulation pump...
Hi,
We are using hdpe pipes for chilled water. When i tried to use 3Eplus Naima software for calculating insulation, there is no option available for HDPE.
There are 4 options for "Base metal"
Stainless Steel, Steel, Copper, PVC.
How to proceed further , please let me know.
I would like to...
Dear Sirs,
any advice please ...

A T78 burner specs:
Length 100 mm, dia 117 mm, working pressure 4.5 psig, gas consumption 3/550 kg/hr, rated heat output 40,250 kcal, inlet 3/8 inch.
So if i equate this 40,250 kcal to kW then it comes to 46.82 kW.
A PNG...
Hi All,
We are planning to replace PNG fired burners with induction stoves. Some burners of type T70.
What is the criteria for one to one replacement of a PNG fired burner with an induction stove ?
Do i need to find the BTU output of T70 burner and then equate that BTU to an induction stove...
In the midst of this discussion i got this fundamental doubt ...
in the kcal calculation "time" factor is considered (m*c*dt/ Time). But in kW calculation i.e. V*I*(3)^.5*Cos(Phi) same "time" factor is missing.
How does the this "time" factor embedded and hidden in the kW calculation ?
How...
yes i have made a mistake in the calculation.
Inquired the vendor and got to know PF is 0.92. Now the efficiency comes up to 60%.
So where the remaining power converted ? Is it dissipated to atmosphere ?
Asked vendor to give us test certificate or any calculation for the efficiency.
Please...
Hi ,
Bit confused with a simple calculation. Recently done an induction stove testing.
It is an 12 kW induction stove. Have set it to 10 kW. heats 30 liters of water from 28 degree celsius to 90 degree celsius in 25 minutes.
Wanted to calculate the system efficiency.
Q = 30 kg * 4184 J/kg·K...
Dear Sir,
@IRstuff grateful for your reply.
Apologies for my oversightedness.
With your reply as the base now I am working on to find a an effective insulation also with less k value. There are some other calculation showing per sqft 4 w as the heat transfer. Then the total transfer is coming...
Dear All,
I would like to calculate heat loss of hot water stored in an SS 304 tank
Water temperature 90 C
Dia of tank 2100 mm
Height 3100
shell Thickness 5 mm
rockwool insulation 100 mm
K 0.036 W/m-k
SS 304 K value 16.2 W/m-k (this is at 100 C. I don't know K value at 90 C)
combined K 0.036...
Have consulted some big sized apartments.
Finally resorted to this solution. Brine will be thoroughly mixed with this agitator and 100% concentration is ensured.
