Dear Sirs,
I have a basic query. Though searched in web and talking to many professionals, I do have some doubts.
It's all about regeneration process.
One case study:
raw water hardness 375 ppm
Target hardness 100 ppm (user requirement)
inflow 200,000 liters
Resin capacity 900 liters
Exchange capacity. 55
Salt required = 150 gm x 900 = 135 kg
Per 0.3 kg salt, 0.8 liters of water required for dilution. This makes 100% concentration.
Water required for salt dilution (100% concentration) = 135 x 0.8/ 0.3 = 360 liters of water
Now my questions are :
1) how much water actually have to be injected to softener to soften 200,000 liters ? To maintain target hardness of 100 ppm throughout 200,000 liters of inflow.
Some say 3 times of water is needed to dilute original 100% concentration that ought to be injected to softener. In this case it is 3 x 360, that is about 1100 liters.
2) will the 100 ppm hardness will be maintained throughout the 200,000 liters softening or the hardness of softener output water will gradually increase from 100 and above ...
Thanks,
