Dear all,
I have been looking over user guides regarding Flight Loads and Aeroelastics from MSc Software, since I have to make an aeroelastic coupled model of a slender wing (structural beam model + DLM aerodynamic model) and carry out a flutter analysis. I did not manage to find a clear...
In future, this document may be useful to anyone who needs introduction to Flight Loads. It does not contain any great examples, but gives decent introduction to the user interface and general practices. If the link becomes unavailable in future, the document is currently contained in the folder...
Dear all,

Hello again!
Many thanks to all of you for the help!
Felipe, yes all the files are in the same folder, when I run the BDF file.
Indeed when I type, in the XB2_MAT1.dat file, 1520.000 instead of the original 1520.0000 the analysis was completed successfully.
nlgyro, please let me know how...
Nlgyro, thanks for the post!
1) To be honest, I really do not think that there is anything wrong/missing with the model. After running the .bdf file in Nastran 2016. No errors are present.
2) As far as I understand you provided the above 6 steps in the cases when I would like to change my...
Filipe, hello!
Please, click here in order to get the f06 file that Nastran 2017 outputs for me. Inside you can see the error messages.
Unfortunately, after asking today I was told that I am not allowed to share with anyone the structural model of the wing. We do a small internal project here...
Filipe, hello and thank you very much for the response! :)
1) Yes, I tried to run a .bdf file (about a FEM of an aircraft wing) directly in Nastran, and surprisingly the .f06 file that was outputted is 1) very small in size and 2) contains messages for errors. I asked a friend of mine who has...
Dear all,
1) I would like to ask whether anyone has ever had problems in running .bdf files, created in Patran 2016 or older versions, on Nastran 2017?
Basically, if one works with the most recent version of software, does that impose any limitations in terms of working with files that are...
Thanks VN1981!
I will check the training courses by MSC.
Regarding the webinar i guess that it is THIS ONE.
Currently, the university only has Nastran/Patran by the MSC Company. I see that this webinar is based on FEmap (NX Nastran) which is from the SIEMENS company. I am not entirely sure...
Dear all,
Hello.
Please, I would like to ask for a piece of advice.
I am doing my university individual research project on a topic related to the Aeroelastics of a high aspect ratio wing of a commercial jetliner. Therefore, I plan to start working with the FlightLoads and Dynamics module of...
Mustaine3, thank you for your response!
What I meant with my question is the following:
Here is a picture after *BUCKLE analysis has been executed and one the second buckling mode is this one.
I hope you can clearly see how the top element layer intersects the bottom element layer as a result...
Mustaine3 or somebody else.
Could you please provide feedback on the following matter:
If one has modelled two element layers(the first layer exactly below the second one) and then assigned each layer to an element surfaces, how Abaqus could know that these two surfaces cannot interfere ( go...
Mustaine3, thank you very much for the attention!
As far as I have managed to learn from the Abaqus Analysis User's Guide (online) Abaqus provides more than one approach for defining contact: 1) general contact algorithm 2) contact pairs and 3) contact elements.
From your experience, could you...
Hello again!
Could somebody read the thread and try to help me with a piece of advice!
Thank you in advance for your time and attention!
With Respect!

Hello, everyone!
My question is related to contact sections in Abaqus, when models of composite laminates are created and loaded only in compression at both ends.
First of all, here is a brief introduction of what I am doing:
I have created in Abaqus a model of a composite laminate which...
Mustaine3,
Your help is much appreciated!!! I have managed to get the circle.
I am absolutely aware of the fact that I need the *NGEN, *NFILL and *ELGEN keywords, but I was not sure how the normal to the plane would be defined.
What do you mean by a preprocessor? I write my .INP files and...
Hello, everyone!
I am trying to create a FE model of composite plates that contain a circular delamination region. I don't work with CAE, but only with .INP files. However, I am stuck at the stage of modelling the circular delamination. More specifically, I am struggling with the process of...
