Pressure Drop across an Orifice Plate

Yea, there is no debris. The water being pumped should be clean. It is to help reduce noise under the specified limit.

Pressure Drop across an Orifice Plate

Thank you Latexman. If I go with a multi-hole orifice, instead of a single hole orifice, how would this affect the beta ratio? Would I need to convert the equivalent cross sectional area of the multi-hole orifice to a single hole orifice to determine the beta ratio?

Pressure Drop across an Orifice Plate

Thank you e43u8. What would a small beta ratio be considered? Is anything less than 1 acceptable?

Pressure Drop across an Orifice Plate

Thank you all for the replies. What would an acceptable beta ratio be if I want negligible pressure recovery? So with 10 gpm, the pressure drop due to the line going from 6" of flow to 3" of flow is negligible. If we say the minimum continuous flow rate was something higher like 100 gpm, I...

Pressure Drop across an Orifice Plate

Hi All, I have a question regarding non recoverable pressure drop through an orifice plate. Below is my scenario but with simplified (made up) numbers. Any help would be much appreciated. I have a centrifugal pump, with a minimum continuous flow rate of 10 gpm. I need to design a...

    PED NDT (RT) Qualifications

I was able to get a list of available vendors. My problem is this sub-contractor has been much faster than others. Thank you for the offer though. Just out of curiosity, is there any way to make the BINDT audit retro active? For example, if I had some recent work done at a non-PED approved...

    PED NDT (RT) Qualifications

After looking into it further, that BINDT program seems to be the only answer. It looks like if I have BINDT audit the NDE facility, I can have them have NDT personnel approved at my sub-contracting facility for RT.

    PED NDT (RT) Qualifications

And by ASME standards, I meant ISO certified.

    PED NDT (RT) Qualifications

Thank you for the reply. "Equivalent to EN473 trained personnel" sounds very vague. I know the sub-contractor I am using is certified according to only ASME standards. How would one determine what is equivalent to EN473?

    PED NDT (RT) Qualifications

Hi All, Just another quick question regarding PED regulations. If I have a valve that would fall into PED category 3 service, I am apparently supposed to have all NDT personal be PED certified by a Notified body. Now let's say I want an external company to perform radio-graphic examination...

3.2 Material certificate for purchased material

Steve, Thank you very much for the info. This makes my life much easier.

3.2 Material certificate for purchased material

I appreciate the detailed response Valvit. So what you're saying is, I can basically find any inspector I want to help make the certificate, and he doesn't have to actually witness any tests per the code. Are there particular inspectors that do this sort of thing regularly? Is there some...

3.2 Material certificate for purchased material

Ok that makes sense. Thanks again.

3.2 Material certificate for purchased material

Hi All, I need a 3.2 material certificate for material that I am purchasing, and I am a little confused at how I am supposed to obtain this. I know a 3.2 certificate requires an outside body to certify that the material I order is to the specification that I require. Does this outside body...
