@RCCT,
Might be out of topic, but can you share what was your road to learn FEA by yourself from beginning to the level you are now. I hold masters of material engineer degree, and I am genuinely interested in FEA, specifically non-linear. So, i think I expect to hear useful strategy from you...
@richardl63
thanks for the answer.
But the geometry was created by inventor. An I still get this in some other works which I create the geometry by inventor too.
Thanks!
But it is kind of complex equation to interpret.
dB (La) = 20 lg (a/ao) dB re 1 µm/s2.
For example what is "re" in the equation above?
I get the decibel values at the LHS of equation when I plug the values for a 6 m/s^2 and a0 = 10µm/s2, as 115 dB?
Dear all,
I measure the acceleration of the collision of the inner parts as an outcome of the noise vibration, with the sensitive acceleration sensors.
How can I convert the acceleration value of 90 m/s^2 to decibel value?
Thanks in advance.
Thanks, I do not know the grades for both.
Where can I find a source to look for?
Actually, it would be good if I can find data to compare EPDM+PP and EPDM ..
Dear friends,
I am looking for the service temperatures of the both.
I would like to use one of them as a material for heat shield.
Can anyone refer me source or where can I look for this information?
Thanks.
Dear All,
I have been trying to simulate a static-structural problem. Assembly includes some sub-parts and contacts.
When I try to get the mesh, I have the strange meshing result in attachments (mesh goes out of the part and reaches to coordinate system center) which yields to failure.
What...
@WKTaylor
The photo given in the first post was from another extruded rod.
I shared that photo because the variation of the grain structure too obvious.
we are extruding in T4 temper.
I couldn't clarify much what that means actually.
This one was right after extrusion.
But in some other diameter rods, it happens after heat treatment.
I see this problem even in the low extrusion ratios,eg 13.
I am suspicious about the ram speed. I am going to give it a try.
...grain structure that is expected and demanded grain type.
The problem here is that, our customer do not want the equaxial-like grain structure at the quarter radius of the extrusion.
Do you have any idea to lose that structure at the quarter diameter of the profile ?

Hi all,
The company I am working for, initiates a new project that to produce aluminum frames and construction parts for solar panels.
To design its own model we need a structural analysis. In addition as i looked through roughly, we should consider wind&snow loads to compel our solar panel...
@EdStainless
That could be right. But how can i check that if the meter reads m3 or sm3.
It writes m3 in the unit of the indicator.
@dgallup
How did you come up with 1.2/1 ? I couldn't get it exactly.
...or normal cubic meter.
Our gas pressure at the exit of the valve is 0.2 bar and the temperature is about 20°C.
I use the formulae
Vsm3 = Vm3 * (P_working/P_absolute) * T_abs/T_work * (Z_sm3/Z_work)
I take the Z compression factor ratio as 1.
Hence,
V_sm3 = 115 * 0.2/1 * 288/303 * 1...
Could it be the room lightning from the ceiling ?
I had a similar issue before, and when I block the light that hits on oculars the effect was cleared.
It also looks like wave interference pattern.
I am in doubt of usefullnes of OES method, since I need to look for the elements where they may exist in the material at ppm levels.
@Maui
They have sent us a ICP OES analysis of the material. But we have to justify the results in more certain way. I don't trust ICP OES method at this level of...
