    ABAQUS ERROR: Excessive distortion

The unitss for the material properties were not consistent, I checked and changed them Now the results are fine.

    ABAQUS ERROR: Excessive distortion

For the mesh, ELEMENT SHAPE: Quad For the material, I considered those for silicone rubber Mechanical: hyperelasticity Strain energy potential: Neo-Hooke Input source: coefficients C10: 1 D1: 0.0001 Tbh, I took the data from a video. Load: I use '20' meaning 20 N. Is it okay for silicone...

    ABAQUS ERROR: Excessive distortion

I am doing the simulation of simple shear of a square using quadrilateral element type for the mesh. The material properties being Neo-Hookean. The abaqus error message and warnings are like follows: 'RELAX STIFFNESS IS NOT A VALID CHOICE FOR THE HOURGLASS PARAMETER ON THE *SECTION CONTROLS...

ABAQUS:How can I use time-dependent shear deformations on a square undergoing simple shearing?

I am currently working on a simple continuum model to demonstrate my students the pure shear analysis on an FEA solver. Only ABAQUS is available to me. So I am using it for the demonstration. I am using non-linear strains for the analysis and applying shear loads on a 2D square so that it...

How can a frame have a single element to represent its overall stiffness?

Exactly rb1957. I can't understand how my lecturer got that. In fact my lecturer is from Civil department. That is why he is an idiot

How can a frame have a single element to represent its overall stiffness?

We were talking about lateral swway only arising from let's say a seismic load, and beams and columns axially rigid. So what you would get, write your stifness marrtix row by row and let's see!

How can a frame have a single element to represent its overall stiffness?

I am sure even though it is a 2-storey, the stiffness matrix can not be : 2k and - k in the first row and - k and k in the second row? Plus there is a pin support at one end What will be the elements in the stiffness matrix? Can somebody help here please? Thank you

How can a frame have a single element to represent its overall stiffness?

No worries, it makes sense for the beam to be assumed to be axially rigid. But then what would be the single expression for its stiffness, I personally think it should be a 2 x 2 stiffness matrix

How can a frame have a single element to represent its overall stiffness?

I saw a frame on the web, kinda corresponding to what you are saying, in terms of a single degree. So you mean the frame below can have a single value for representing its stiffness, so what expression would you get for a single value from that system? If you say so, then for that 2-storey...

How can a frame have a single element to represent its overall stiffness?

Ahaa, that makes sense, so only the element of the matrix concerned with that displacement will be considered and the rest of the elements disregarded?

How can a frame have a single element to represent its overall stiffness?

Hox can a frame have a single element to represent its overall stiffness? I found that in a book. From what I remember, a single-storey or double or multi-storey have a matrix of stiffness. Only a structural member can have one element to represent its stiffnees?

    Job error in Abaqus

When I ran a job "job W+G-action-20x", I got this error: Error in job W+G-action-20x: THE ELSET, EXTERIOR OR TRACER SET PARAMETER IS REQUIRED ON THE *ELEMENT OUTPUT OPTION FOR THIS OUTPUT DATABASE HISTORY REQUEST WARNING message: Output request irm1 is not available for this type of...

Gravity load and unit consistency in Abaqus

Okay, I thought my silly questions were taking space on the forum. Sorry I will stop removing them. But why the wind loading which is acting downwards does not have to be negative, but the gravity load has to be negative?

Gravity load and unit consistency in Abaqus

    For unit consistency I use SI units, for the data below: Density = 2,680 kg/m3 E = 70.7 GPa v = 0.33 Plastic strain = 0.2 Yield stress = 240 MPa, In ABAQUS, I input these: Density = 2,680 E = 70.7 x 10^9 v = 0.33 Plastic strain = 0.2 for yield stress = 240 x 10^6 For the loadings (all...

How can I cut a triangular section at an angle (<90 degrees) to the face of a part?

In fact the part is a shell element, could it be the reason why?

How can I cut a triangular section at an angle (<90 degrees) to the face of a part?

I was able to do the cut through the part. But there was few things that don't match what I wanted. I wanted the triangular section to cut through the part. However, cut through the entire part. Look hoe the part is cut from down to up. How can I do it properly? My section cut implies only a...

How can I cut a triangular section at an angle (<90 degrees) to the face of a part?

I want to cut a triangular section thru a part at an angle to the face (not perpendicular) Can you tell how can I do that please? Here is the line through which I wannna make the cut: Here is my trial: 1)I drew an axis at the start of the cut, on the face of the part. 2)I make a plane along the...
