yeah there closed loops,the sketches are converted model edges from the formers, so they are the outline shape of the former, with all coutouts and holes removed. ill give it another go and see if i can get it work.

im modelling an areoplane and want to put a 'skin' over it.just want to do one wing at the moment. i have the the wing assembly made up of the formers and ribs etc,i tried inserting a new part (the skin) and using the suface loft tool to loft between the formers to give me my wing shape,( i used...
when i import a dxf into solidworks and use it to make a part, the sketch is miles from the origin, how can i move the sketch so its attached to the origin, ive tried useing the move button but cant seem to get it right.
thanks ill try it that way, as i can get dimples in the flat part but once its rolled up they jusy appear next to the model and not actually attached to it.

im modelling a jet turbine engine.its very nearly completed apart from a few minor niggles, which i cant seem to do.On the combustion i have a sheet metal rectangle with several rows of round holes in it, this is then rolled in to a cylinder which is fine, but i need the holes to be dimpled...
