im modelling an areoplane and want to put a 'skin' over it.just want to do one wing at the moment. i have the the wing assembly made up of the formers and ribs etc,i tried inserting a new part (the skin) and using the suface loft tool to loft between the formers to give me my wing shape,( i used convert model egdes to sketch entities for each of the formers to make 6 seperate sketches for the loft).it wont left me loft between all 6 sketches, because it would produce self intersecting geometry. ive messed about with it for ages but cant seem to get it to work.any ideas how i can do this or an easier way. thanks

Are your lofts closed loops? Perhaps the loft is getting confused about where each loop starts. Guide curves can help. Loft is also sensitive to where you actually pick each section. Try to be consistent with that.

yeah there closed loops, the sketches are converted model edges from the formers, so they are the outline shape of the former, with all coutouts and holes removed. ill give it another go and see if i can get it work.
thanks for the help.

Per Tick's suggestion, I would use the first rib as the sketch, then loft and use the remaining ribs as guide curves.

so, select the first of the 6 sketches and use this as the profile, then use the remaining 5 sketches as guide curves.

Use Fit Spline on your loft profiles to get rid of varying segments. This will create a single (approximated) spline over your segments with which to create the loft. Should help a lot (whether you use them as guide curves or loft segments). Consider a sweep, too.
