it seems the problem raise because of the interaction. you can do following:
1- remove the interaction and let model run with no interaction. if it is running fine the problem is definitely for the interaction.
2- if the problem is on the interaction, then try to play with: load/boundary...
Has anybody work with fluid/structure interaction(FSI)?
My problem is about an object sinking into the water. I want to model the full sinking of the object into the water. I have created the object (metal) in 3D (solid deformable) with explicit step. the water was created as an Eulerian part...
my theoretical calculation shows the object should fully sink about 24 hours but the the time from displacement and velocity graphs talk about few seconds. what do you think guys? thnx
Just one more thing, it took about 20 hours to run the program. the CPU time was showing this but when I calculated the time from displacement and velocity graphs the time of traveling of the object was much different. does anyone know how I can request the time of traveling of the object along...
Hi, I have a basic question on plotting the disp-real time.
My problem is on sinking an object into the water. I have run the problem in Explicit and it was working fine. Now I want to get the result of sinking of the object versus the time. if i go for disp-time it shows the disp against step...
Thanks shingouz
I am not sure if we model the minimum and maximum geometry can get good result as the geometry randomly changing along the part so we need a logic behind this to explain about the effect of random geometry changing.
I have heard using Ansys we are able to define the geometry...
Thanks Rob,
the problem is about modelling of a cantilever which is a part of machine. the machine sensitive to the frequency of the cantilever and I have found that the thickness of the cantilever is not the same. I only can measure the cantilever thickness from the edges and can not measure it...
Does anyone know how to introduce initial periodic defects to trigger folds?
Spheres under compression normally respond in folded dents. I want to simulate 4- and 5-fold formations under a compressive impact in a sphere with 1 mm thickness.
Hi Guys,
I want to model a plate with thickness variation. the nominal thickness is 2 mm but after measurement found the thickness is vary from 1.85 to 2.15 mm. My question is how I can model the plate? if I make the plate as a part with nominal thickness how I can apply the thickness variation?
is there a tip to get rid of mass definition for the RPs?
obviously I don't want to connect the the spring directly to a node on the body as I believe it causes local effect on the body. is it right?
so, in explicit, if I want to connect a spring between two reference points which are coupled with two bodies, do i have to define mass for the reference points?
Guys, I've got two parts and want to connect them together using a spring element. I've done following:
1- Create two RP for the two parts
2- Couple each RP to its relevant part
3- Connecting two RP using an spring element
when I run the model using explicit solver I get following error...
Thanks eli215,
The general queries can give instant information from the view point but if I want to track and record the data in the output what should I do?
Hello guys, I have two complex solid body which have a relative rotational motion, I want to track the distance between any two points of bodies and measure the angle of rotation, any idea?
I need to use user subroutine but it is not working. I have Abaqus 6.8 and visual C++ 2005 express edition and Fortran power station 4.0 installed on my machine. I don’t know how I can set the environment to link those together. Does anyone have any suggestion for this?
