I suggest you used ETABS for concrete and STAADPro for steel. However for finite element analysis you could use STRAND7 and for design of slabs and foundations SAP2000 or SAFE could be a good choice.
hokie66,
coring was required since the structure is under structural investigation. the end user wants to know if retrofitting would be necessary or is the building members are adequate. part of the Terms of Reference is to conduct core test to determine the compressive strength of concrete and...
Based on the photo provided, it seems that the plan is to provide a column (whether RC or Steel) that will hold the cantilever beam. To answer your question I would like to ask if there is a need to place a column on that cantilever beam? Does this cantilever beam has a concern with regards to...
Considering flexure on rectangular or square Hollow Structural Steels, the section must be checked on its yielding, flange local buckling and web local buckling to determine its normal moment capacity. The lowest nominal capacity to be considered shall be the lowest of the three conditions. To...

If there are no issues on the budget I suggest that this masonry wall be covered with steel plate on both sides. Certainly these plates could increase the resistant of the masonry from blast.
The model from STAAD produced a value of 11000 KN-m. The designer did not release the My in the model though it is free to translate in both directions.
Is it possible to have a huge amount of torsional moment in a single column bent for design of bridges? The superstructure is made of AASHTO girders that were placed above the coping beam.
