Hey all, I'm not sure where to post this. It's an automotive part, but it's also a pipe and concerns manufacturing techniques.
Does anyone know the name of the crimping process for this outside ring? Most google hits are returning hose assembly tools, and I don't think it's radial crimping.
If...
Apologies for the lapse in replying.
CF was removed because I thought it was also redundant.
I added extension lines to the drawing to reduce assumptions.
This is a real part we're working on so I couldn't share the whole thing.
I also didn't have time to create a basic model to show what I...
Hey All,
Y14.5 R2018 permits the use of continuous feature on external planar surfaces now.
However, my engineer's drawing I'm reviewing has applied it internally.
Intrinsically, this makes sense in what it intends, but it's not explicitly explained from what I could read in our book so I...
Considering we're making a generic version of an OEM gasket design (so don't judge the weird parting line choice right now), AND ignoring our written requirements on the drawing, do the highlighted getols below convey a completely filled sprue and perimeter?
3DDave this all in one method sounds like it would work well on simpler gaskets for sure, and if a language barrier wasn't a concern too. That is likely how they check our completed part, but I am going with btrueblood's advice.
btrueblood I appreciate the helpful feedback for sure. We'll send...
Hello everyone! It has been a while since posting here, but I need help outside of the ASME Y14.5 book.
First and foremost, ASME Y14.5 R2009 or R2018 is being considered, but R2009 is favored because of the cleaner dimensions (title block tolerances still permissible).
This gasket will be...
Autodesk makes their own CFD software of which you can import an Inventor model, correct, but our reseller has not included that in the collection that we use. Solidworks is all internal to the actual software; but way less detailed than something like STAR / ANSYS.
Kays & London actually...
I wish we had Solidworks so I could use their paltry CFD; Inventor Professional still doesn't have something basic. My boss likely won't pay to send this off either..
We'll see if NTS can help us out, otherwise we're going to try and see what else is out there, or I'll finally get to finish...
Flow nozzles didn't end up being efficacious.
Due to the test chamber size versus the current fan we're using, the Helander Metal rep said I'd be better off with anemometers instead. Since that means more money for my boss to outlay, we're looking at third party testing finally, even though we...
I understand needing just one for the thermal rating aspect, but per air's pressure drop through the core, I was thinking that is why I would need another. I suppose if I am metering air with one nozzle to understand the flow right before the H.E. then I could just use a pressure transducer to...
MintJulep I've seen that type of thing before but forgot to file it in my memory for later research. I've only seen them on extremely large wind tunnels or like outside of coastal weather station maybe; can't recall for sure now?
If I'm thinking correctly, these things typically sit in the...
rb1957 I suppose that is a decent way to do it, although the initial X-Y point traversing is really what I'd like to avoid. I will for sure need two stations for this, seems like I forgot to make that clearer in my initial post.
VEBill I would perform those experiments on the heat exchangers...
I am in a predicament: Would you use an anemometer or pitot tube with a pressure transducer to collect wind speed measurements in a low speed wind tunnel?
Here's the catch: This is a heat transfer wind tunnel, specifically for heat exchanger rating, therefore the air passes through the entire...
What forum is more specific to testing than the testing forum?
I searched that list and this is what fits most generally.
Engineers use DAQ modules for testing all the time unless these large companies are literally moving that fast now?
Hello all! As the title implies, I'm looking for your favorite serial modbus DAQ devices that y'all have used with pleasure and worked with over the years. We need to replace our OMEGA Engineering D8400 since it decided to not have reliable pin-to-board connections anymore: YT Vid if Curious...
Our precision doesn't really require that, and it wouldn't allow me to have a progressive force increase like the compression spring would. It's more important to have the right preload and not exceed the vendor's published maximum force as well.
Thanks for your input MintJulep; I tend to design stuff on the side of overbuilt but simple with these budgets here haha.
I did understand that I'd have this non-uniformity in the reservoir's fluid temp as well, but I would just stir every now and again to make sure it was a better average...
