    Chrome Look on Plastic Parts

Thanks for your response, dgallup! Glad to know they're quality parts!

    Chrome Look on Plastic Parts

Thanks, Mike! I assumed as much but since I've never really attempted a metallic-look, I figured I'd better just ask.

    Chrome Look on Plastic Parts

A bit of a left field question here: one of the supervisors in our warehouse is really into Camaros. He forwarded me an article that has a section on auto parts availability for muscle cars and he's now put us in preliminary talks to start a line of muscle car plastic interior trim. The thing is...

    Manufacturing Questionable Commodities

Yeah, Stookeyfpe, I've read a bit about K2 or Spice or whatever they're calling it. Horrible junk. I don't really have a need for medical marijuana but I support people's right to pursue it as a medication and think it probably does help in some degree. Too bad that's not the case with beer or...

    Manufacturing Questionable Commodities

Thanks for your directness! I'm still discussing things with the attorney but that's definitely a good point to consider as well. It's tough to tell when an attorney's shooting straight and narrow but I'm assuming it's pretty rare!

    Manufacturing Questionable Commodities

Yeah, you have a point. My buddy even told me that he has no clue about that stuff when I asked him. I called an attorney and I've got an appointment today. Thanks, guys!

    Manufacturing Questionable Commodities

Thanks - I have a friend who's an officer of the law. I'll get his advice and then maybe consult with an affordable attorney before I sign any contracts.

    Manufacturing Questionable Commodities

Thanks for pointing that out - it was pretty much what I was thinking but just wanted to cross my t's and dot my i's so to speak. I suppose these sort of products could easily be used for tobacco and I'm not marketing them one way or another so I'm in the clear (hopefully)!

    Manufacturing Questionable Commodities

I have a sort of strange question; let me preface by stating that I've been managing a relatively small plastic injection molding operation for a little over a year now. We've just been offered a contract for creating smoking paraphernalia; mostly novelty stuff like these marijuana gas masks and...

    Bioplastic Materials

Howdy, I'm thinking of exploring bioplastics but I'm curious as to where to start. Obviously, there are a lot of factors to consider before moving forward but, in your experiences, what is the most affordable type of bioplastic? I'm currently thinking in terms of food packaging just to give an...

Will a Thermoset Bond with a Thermoplastic?

Curing would be the way to go - I definitely need optimum adhesion. Thanks for your advice!

Will a Thermoset Bond with a Thermoplastic?

Is it possible to mold a thermoset to a thermoplastic with actual bonding occurring? This would be in a situation where mechanical interlocking was woefully neglected.

    Patents

Also, when searching through patents, it's a good idea to use a thesaurus to vary your keywords because some patents may exist under synonyms. I've tried to develop a few prototypes on the cheap side. If you've got the money, do what the above poster said and get an attorney. Otherwise, you...

    Tanazawa Texture Standard

I was speaking to someone about the Tanazawa standard for textures. To be honest, I'd never heard of Tanazawa, having always been a Mold-Tech man. But I'm curious as to what texture standard other plastic manufacturers are using? Is Mold-Tech the standard in the U.S.? Are Tanazawa offering...

LDPE Plastic Alternatives for Food Containers

LDPE seems to be the industry standard when manufacturing plastics in food consumption. I was wondering if anyone knew of any other types of plastic considered safe for this purpose?

    Small Quantities of Materials

Thank you kindly for the push in the right direction. I'm working out of City of Commerce in California but I'll reach out to Discover Plastics and see my options.

    Small Quantities of Materials

Looking for a good place to order from for small quantities of materials - mostly plastics and rubber. I'm helping a fella in my warehouse with this prototype and we don't want to commit to a material until we've tested out a few options. It's for an item that's quite small (imagine 1" x 1" x 1").
