    ultrasonic vibration/leak detection

What units have you looked at so far? I have used the UE Systems equipment for years doing air leaks surveys and it works really well. I would recommend them as a first choise for any air leak equipment. http://www.uesystems.com/ Hope this helps. Don

VPI versus Traditional Dipping & Baking

Have you thought about MCE testing of your repaired motors when they come back from the repair shop? I have per seen where a motor was turned around on a rush basis and when it came back it had a nice new yellow paint job. However upon performing the MCE testing we found that the wires inside...

    Bump test

CSI has an averaging method in their analyzer called Negative Averaging. It does exactly what you are asking about. The first set of data that you acquire is with you impacting the structure, then the second set of data is with just the machine running. It subtracts the second set of data...

Bearing failure undetected on vibration readings

I am not sure I understand the 0-500 envelope analysis. But at 3600rpm and a 500hz spectrum you are only catching 8.333 orders of run speed, which isn't going to catch your bearing until it's to late. At a minimum he needs to be taking a 4000hz spectrum to get you out closer to 70 orders of...

    Flir InfraCAM

I am not sure what this new camera costs, but a few things to keep in mind. Depending on the size of your facility and the amount of equipment to be scanned this may or mkay not be a viable option. If you are going to be doing alot of IR then a higher quality camera may be the way to go. It...

    Vibration Analysis

Ray, To have your program up and running by July with no background in predictive maintenance is a big job. You might want to consider getting a predictive maintenance provider in your area to help you set it up and run it for six months to a year and then you take it over. This would give you...

    Motor frequent start alarm

If this multiple starts per day is a recent trend I would suggest performing a Ultrasound survey to locate your leaks and fix them. Fixing the leaks would get the number of starts of the compressor back to normal, or within manufacturers specifications.
