JMirisola: That's exactly what I do now is trace the outline of the Logo in a Sketch Picture and micro extrude cut (.0001") it. Then I change the color of the logo and it looks like a lable. I use the extrude "offset from surface" and check "reverse offset" which works nice on a curved...
Thanks for the Info on Decaling CorBlimey. Now I can quit banging my head trying to make it work without Photoworks!
Obviously they have chosen this route in order to sell you on the full blown package which I do not have.

Can you put an image (.jpg,.bmp, etc.) such as a Logo for example on a model and save as an eDrawings file? Do you have to have Photoworks to be able to use decals? Seems like it should come with the base package like it does in INVENTOR.
Thanks,
Tom
I found that if you make a spline into a loop and
connect it to itself it makes a decent looking ellipse.
I Snapped it to four dimensioned construction lines
to make it controllable and symmetrical on two axes.

Anyone know how to get an elipse into a 3D Sketch?
I have set up my work planes to make a closed loft
in order to make a ring shaped object. I want the
loft sections to be eliptical. Why are the elipses
ghosted out in 3D sketch? Is there a work around?
Thanks,
Tom
Here are some tips I figured out on my own just in case it may help someone else:
1) Download the very latest eDrawings verion (they do issue service packs at intervals)
2) Apply textures at the part level not in the Assembly view if you want them to show up in the eDrawings Assembly with...
My answer to this was to have a second Assembly file with the 25 or so hidden parts (that are present in my main Assembly file) deleted. I only use this second assembly file to save out to eDrawings for people to look at and not get confused by a whole bunch of extra parts that they don't need...
In SW 2005 when I saved as an edrawings file none of the hidden parts in my assembly were shown in the edrawings viewer. In SW 2006 every single hidden file is carried over to the eDrawings viewer which is not desirable. Where is the option to de-select all hidden files so they will not be...
Ok, I have run into the problem again.. this time the whole part is textured and the texture will not show up in edrawings. I am using Solidworks 2006 SP 3.0 and eDrawings 2006 SP 1. Has anyone got any simple tips that might explain this. Is there a setting I need to turn on?

Peter - I downloaded from that site this morning to check it and it worked. I just tried it from home and now it does not work. I will put it up again tomorrow. - Tom
Peter- I snapped a spline to points in the messy point cloud following roughly the center of the cross section as you follow along it lengthwise. There is no circular "cross section" because the laser apparently did not rotate all around the part and do a good job. - Tom
Peter do you have Solidworks 2006? Otherwise you will not be able to look at the part model. If you need it to do analysis I can export it to step or iges. -Tom
Is texturing a new feature in eDrawings2006? I see that it works in 2006 but can't remember it working before now. Anyhow the problem is that I am texturing a selected "face" on one side of my part (leaving the radiuses untextured) and it looks great in edrawings for that side. However on the...
I actually used sweep to do most of the wire so I told you wrong for the first bit of it - sorry. I used loft to make the smaller radius areas for no particular reason. I realize loft is more for varying cross sections. I have just gotten into habit of using loft more because I want to learn...
Peter- I snapped a spline to points in the messy point cloud following roughly the center of the cross section to make a "U" shaped spline. I then lofted it along its full length. Looking at the part and the point cloud you could see that the shape is somewhat distorted so I cut the "U" in...
