    Black Oxide Coating Specification

I recently had a part coated with black oxide per AMS-2484-H. My specification was to AMS-2485-C. I cannot find a copy of the revisions so I can determine what has changed from Revision C to Revision H. Can anyone help?

    Drilling and tapping 304L plate.

Just a follow-up. We used the slower speeds and lots of thread cutting oil lubricant and things worked fine. We used water as a coolant and lubricant on some of the holes where we could not disassemble the parts to cleanout the excess lubricant. It worked well as a coolant and less well as a...

    Bolting for aluminim plates

The SS inserts I found were 303 SS but they were passivated. Will there be galling problems with 303SS bolts? I need to use nonmagnetic bolting because in some situations a strong magnetic field is used in the sample area in the front of the vessel. The vessel will be under dry conditions...

    Bolting for aluminim plates

I am using two thick aluminum (6061) plates to straighten and level a rail system inside a large vacuum chamber. I am considering the use of stainless (300 series) steel bolts for the adjustment screws as well as the hold down bolts. I am concerned about galling. Do I need to use chrome...

    bolting aluminum to mild steel

I have an application where two thick aluminum (6061) plates are being used to level a rail system inside a large vacuum chamber. I plan to use stainless steel fasteners (300 series). Will I need to plate the fasteners to prevent galling? I cannot use a thread lubricant inside the chamber.
