My best guess is your problem is mass scaling related. What I think is happening your model is scaled in mass term but only for the deformable side and the difference between the mass of the point mass and the plate mass is so big and you see the same deformation all the time. The proposed...
I ask about mass scaling because wasn’t very clear for me what happened with the model.
So the model seems to keep the same deformation doesn’t matter witch mass you give to the impactor (please confirm if I well understand).
You must give more details: kind of analysis (standard or explicit)...
The tall / thickness ratio 5, 10, 20 indicate you are far from the beam theory application.
You are most in the field of shell and plate theory, and a theoretical solution is not easy to calculate, maybe impossible.
A way to validate your analysis can be mesh refinement / solution convergence.

Try to model the defects too.
Small cracks by unconnected nodes, empty spaces in the volumes by deleted elements and so on.
Maybe you will feel necessary to do non-linear and large displacement analysis.

I think you have one or more nodes unconnected.
I never use Cosmos, but you must have the option of merge nodes (check help).
I remember about a discussion with Solid Works representative, he says me about a feature of extracting mid-faces from solid automatically.

Normally if your assembled parts are modeled whit shell elements and you want stress in your screw you can use beams (with the section properties like your screw) as for bolts or rivets. In the hole you must build a spider.
Hope this help
FEA is a tool and give as an approximation of the stress in the analysed parts.
If you will refine your mesh in the hot spot sectors you will have a different configuration of stress: much small area but higher stress, this thing is not necessarily more truth or much closer from reality.
In HM...
Hi,
For the first problem only:
The easiest way to model the rivets and bolts is to create the two mid-faces at the real distance.
Mesh the surfaces with shell elements.
At the right position of the rivets you will create a line of beam elements between two nodes placed on the two surfaces...
Hi everybody,
We have a client who developed a protection device made from soft hypoallergenic material mainly from silicone.
The question is if somebody known some things about restriction for the use of silicone content devices in the automotive industries.
All opinions will be very...
