    shear failure and stirrups

hi i have a question for a concrete beam which was not designed in proper way for shear (shear deficiencies ) should the stirrups reach its ultimate yield strength ( fy) before the longitudinal steel? or shear failure happens only when concrete becomes cracked very much

    ANSYS APDL, unconstrained model error.

hi, according to what i know this error message means that the beam fail i am now working on a concrete beam with ansys and i depend on this message to know that my beam fail try this code /SOLUTION ANTYPE,STATIC,new !solcontrol,on OUTRES,all, all RESCONTROL,DEFINE,ALL,1,1 NROPT,FULL, ,ON...

    cfrp and steel yield

hi all, when we use the cfrp Sheets for shear strengthening for concrete beams.....the beam will handle more load......but would that delay the longitudinal steel yielding or not.....i tried to analysis a concrete beam with and without cfrp.....but the longitudinal steel yielded at the same...

    how to define failure load?

how can i define the failure load of a concrete beam? is it when the program stop or when the steel reach fy or when the strain in concrete becomes 0.003? and how can i know is it a shear failure or a flexure failure?

    frp and solid185

hi all i am using solid185 to model frp but how can i enter the failure criteria "tsai-wu" for this element? what parameters should i enter.....and should i enter the failure criteria before or after i do the analyze . thanks

    Concrete crushing model

solid65 is the best for concrete, and make sure to model the material properties in a right way. and as Drej has said , by doing appropriate symmetry boundary conditions you can do symmetry model. the link might be helpfulhttp://ar.scribd.com/doc/63777162/Simplified-ANSYS-Model-Concrete-Crack

how to apply accelerator on ansys

hi all does any on know how to apply (time - accelerator ) curve in ansys i know this is transient analysis , but how to introduction this curve for ansys, and then apply it into the structure base. thanks

element type for concrete axialsymmetric model

i think that solid65 is the best element for modeling concrete , but it is 3-D element and you must model concrete behavior in a right way. for symmetry , you can do that by using constrains.

how to get the ultimate load for concrete beam in ansys?

hi, I made a model for concrete beam , and apply the load as load steps, and then I made static non-linear analysis , but.....how con i define the critical or the ultimate load that the concrete beam can stand before collapse and how can I now the results for each load step? how can I draw the...

help in load step in ansys

hi i am modeling a reinforced concrete beam in ansys, but should i only applying the load or should i make a load steps? and if i must make a load steps......how to do it?

    how to use combin39

hi, i am modeling a concrete beam and i want to connect steel nodes with concrete nodes , first i create a concrete element then i copy it to create the beam , but how can i add the steel and then use combin39.....any help

hi, i am trying to learn ansys and

hi, i am trying to learn ansys and i have a question, after drawing all the elements i want, how can i change the material for each element?
