Do any of you guys have a recommendation or know of a calculator for deteming total heat loss in a length of process piping?
Basically, I have Natural Gas flowing from a regulating station to a gas turbine. Some of the pipe is above ground, while some of it is below ground. I have all the...
MVD,
I agree with BRT549. You only need a static pressure gauge for the application. At the velocity/area values provided I would only expect pressures in the range of 0-10 inches of water.

Hey Guys,
I typically answer Thermal Science questions on this forum, but now find myself being the one who needs to ask a question. It's in the physics/dynamics area, so I'm a little out of my area of expertise.
Here's the problem:
I have a paper roll 7 feet in diameter x 9 feet long...
jabsab,
Does the valve have a rotary actuator that pushes and pulls the valve stem via a rack-and-pinion or similar device?
I would like to see this valve. I don't know that I've seen a gate valve where the stem friction wasn't due to the interface between the valve stem and the valve...
These are all accurate responses. Virtually all modern combined cycle and coal fired facilities use a Turbine Bypass System. This system utilizes a valve sized to take the pressure drop that exists in the event of a turbine trip. Furthermore, an attempurator (desuperheater) is installed...
