Chiller-Oil Acid & Moisture Purger (Oil Separator)

We have 6 low pressure centrifugal chillers (R11). Oil migration has always been an issue. I recently came across Oil Acid & Moisture Purger (Oil Separator) Models OAM-LPC200-11/113 & OAM-LPC200-123. Has anyone installed one of these and what do you think about it. Any issues that you can think...

Centravac Chiller limited on high current

Refrigirant is R-11. Here are the specs. PARAMETERS Evaporator Entering Water Temp-55.7 deg F Evaporator Leaving Water Temp-45.9 deg F Condenser Entering Water Temp-78.3 deg F Condenser Leaving Water Temp-87.9 deg F Saturated Evap Temp-37.9 deg F Evap RFGT pressure- -7.8 psig Saturated Con...

Centravac Chiller limited on high current

one of the trane centrifugal chiller capacity is limited on high current (99%). condenser pressure is at 8.5 psig. Entering water temperature (condenser side) is 77 deg F. Also, inlet guide vanes are open 85 %. I suspect that there is oil in the evaporator tubes. Sight glass is to the top (cant...

    Vane Postion and load relationship

    1. At a recent training provided by carrier, intructor told us that the vane position and amps are directly propotional. If the load is 80 % then amps should be 80 % too. We has Trane R11 and R113 centrifugal chiller that do not work like that. Amps may be 95 % but vane position can be 70 %...

Centravac Chiller has wide condenser approach

I don't have the pressure drop across the condenser at the moment but I can answer other questions. . Saturated Condenser Temperature is the measured value and pressure is the calculated. We also have a pressure gauge and it's reporting the same pressure as calculated condenser pressure. The...

Centravac Chiller has wide condenser approach

Inlet Condenser temperature is correct. This is just river water-cooling used as heat sink. River water temp changes from 34 F in winter to 90 F in summer. Also, Quark. When you talk about delta T, I am assuming you are talking about delta T across the condenser. In my experience, this delta T...

Centravac Chiller has wide condenser approach

Gepman. Thanks for the feedback. When you say condenser fouling, I am assuming that you mean micro fouling (minerals, scale, algae) vs. Macro fouling (leaves, mud). I emphasize on this distinction cuz I think if its macro fouling, it will block the tubes and condenser leaving water temp will...

Centravac Chiller has wide condenser approach

We have a issue with one of our chillers and I am hoping that someone can shed some light on it. One of our R11 Chiller is showing low condenser leaving water temperature and high Condenser approach. Here are the specs taken yesterday. Condenser entering water temp = 34.6 F Condenser leaving...

Centrifugal chiller showing high cond. pressure in Stndby

It is purifier. We did the functional test (as stated in the Vendor manual) to verify that the purge runs at 18 F and stops at 22 F. Verified that air was bleeding out. Also, verified that the chiller refrigirant is condensing in the purge unit and going back to the condenser of the chiller. We...

Centrifugal chiller showing high cond. pressure in Stndby

We have two chillers. One is always running, while other is in standby. This particular chiller has been in standby since May 2007. The high condenser pressure trip is at 1 inHg Vacuum. Refrigerant is R-113. Area temperature fluctuates between 85 F to 96 F. Since there is no water to the...

Centrifugal chiller showing high cond. pressure in Stndby

Imok 2. Can you explain how does the bursting (rupture) disk rupture? I want to understand the concept. Also, if the area temperature around the chiller gets too high, wouldn't that also cause the high condenser pressure?

Centrifugal chiller showing high cond. pressure in Stndby

Yes. I was thinking about that but our purge pump out rate is zero. I was considering that the Purge could have gone bad. I will look for that but want to make sure that I know all the possible causes.

Centrifugal chiller showing high cond. pressure in Stndby

I work with low pressure Centrifugal chiller (Trane) that is showing that it has exceeded the high condenser pressure. It has been in standby for last couple of months. It could be a sensor problem. but is there any other explanation for this. Thanks in advance.
