    tubes butt welding fixture/issue

I am butt-welding 430FR stainless to 302 stainless tubes together. I am having a somewhat hard time keeping them concenctric and without a gap during welding. My current fixture is holding them concentric on the inside but often gaps during welding is a problem. I have been thinking of an...

    laser welding class/training

Simon; I went to the website and this looks like the program I was looking for. The details seems to match what I am trying to get out of it. thanks for the link.

thanks, will see what I can do.

    shielding gases

Hello; That last post has a lot of useful information I can use. I am going to try my best to describe the configuration. The cone where the laser comes out has a gas inlet orifice. At the top of the cone, is the lens facing down. This orifice is perpendicular to the beam axis. The nitrogen...

    shielding gases

Vinayaklaser; The cross jet is a transverse nitrogen flow on the beam axis through the shield cone. I did try a nitrogen flow on the weld but it did not help with spatter. As for penetration, it is two components press fit together then butt welded @ a 30 degree angle. The thickness is of no...

    shielding gases

thanks for replying. The piece is not constrained to the 30 degree, from this angle the required depth is 0.014". As for the cross jet, there is one across the lens and it is the only gas flow. The workpiece starts to move before the beam reach and is ramped up to the set power then ramped down...

I mean to say butt welding to the post above

    shielding gases

I am basically (circular) seam welding a 430F Stainless to a 304 stainless. Power is approximately @ 900W and 40 RPM with a 1/4" radius on the part. The beam is @ 30degree from the seam. I tried Helium, currently using Nitrogen.

    shielding gases

Any one know a good combination of shield gases for CO2 laser welding that can help with weld spatter and minimize the effect of plasma. thanks

    laser welding class/training

thx Elitewp. But I need CO2 laser specifically

    laser welding class/training

I was thinking more of a technical oriented class/training on laser welding. Like I would learn more on pulse, continuous wave, sort of things like that. Even a book would help.

    laser welding class/training

anyone know where I can receive some laser welding courses or training for CO2 lasers? thx

    PRC 1500W CO2 Laser

I am welding on the outside of a tube, with a 90 degree presentation relative to the lase beam, with a max Outside Diameter(OD) 0.377 After weld, the allowable weld OD is 0.386 From the settings, how can duty cycle, Frequency, power help me hold the tolerance. There is also RPM, Start and stop...
