Meter Date Showing larger peak current in one phase

Along with the currents readings, can you show us the phase angles of said currents?

    SEPAM connection

There are times when you have to re-use your old laptop with Windows98 installed and a DB9 connector.

Open versus Closed Transitioning on Medium Voltage Switches

Field testing of some Eaton closed transition ATS's gave paralleling delays in 80-90 msec time window. An alarm is set at 100 msec that stops the process, if need be.

3 Phase DYn1 transformer. Can it be connected externally DYn3 ?

You would have to disconnect all 3 coils at neutral ends. At this power, these should be welded.

    Substation Connector Ampacity

You could add a piece of bus bar with the required holes for the CT and for the lugs.

    I have a substation with a Federal

DSP MKII is a ground fault relay. It comes with a grounding resistor. It's the vintage model of the I-gard. If you have feeder modules, it will tell you which phase is grounded and on which feeder. It leaves you live with one occurring ground fault (Alarm). If you get a second ground fault on a...

Surge Protective Device at the point of service connected through a branch bkr, overcurrent req'd ?

This SDP module should be installed right into the switchgear. 8 feet distance is too large and protection is lost. Our manufacturer states a max cable length of 14 in! And we use 30 A breakers. Not much current flows into this, only high voltage transient surges.

Direction of Ground fault current in 3 Phase 3 wire solidly grounded system

Fault current will use all provided ground paths to return to its source, the A Trafo, assuming it's secondary is wye and the neutral is grounded.

Main-Tie-Main Arrangement with Tie Breaker Normally Closed

Flat short time delay on the tie, while I2t delays on both mains (LV LSIG Breakers). May be a 90% pick up on the tie's long delay, if coordination is that critical. Lastly, consider removing the instantaneous element on both mains while using it on the tie. That's it, almost full coordination...

    Motorized MCCB - "Trip Position"

More over, the manual I have suggest the use of a Bell alarm contact. Then use a lamp or another mean to indicate automatic trip operation.

Testing equipment for measuring powerline ground impedance

Google Megger DET2/3 or DET2/3, you should have good info there.

Power transformer inrush current 8 vs 12 times FLC

Yeah, choosing a limiter fuse to protect your xfo's primary may give you bigger fuse than expected, if you go higher than 12 x.

    Generator circuit breaker - suppliers?

A breaker is a breaker. Eaton, Schneider, ABB and Siemens all do breakers. Other suppliers?

Opinions on remote breaker operation for 34.5kV Switchgear

Ok, it's pretty easy to open the breaker with a remote electrical switch, then remove voltage with the pole switch and then un-rack the breaker. All this without much AF hazard. The pole-switch is outside and if something happens, the blast will propagate in all directions, meaning it's going to...

Opinions on remote breaker operation for 34.5kV Switchgear

What's upstream of that breaker? A switch , a transformer? It should be easy to use the existant open/close electrical wiring and switch and move them away near the access door. Your breaker is electrically operated already? Best is to rack-in, rack-out on a de-energized bus, where an upstream...

    Methods to Reduce Clearing Time

An high impedance GF protection would help too. As a large number of 3phase faults begin with a ground fault.

Enclosed vs Open Air (Rack Mount) Capacitor bank.

Open air cap bank is a bird's favorite place to nest and then die... and burn your fuses. I would go metal enclosed 100 %.
