Glassfiber Reinforced Epoxy Pipe - Poisson's ratio

Hoop Tensile modulus = 25200 MPa Poisson's ratio axial/hoop = 0.65 Axial Tensile Modulus = 12500 MPa Poisson's ratio hoop/axial = 0.40 Above are the revised properties after speaking material supplier. Can somebody help in understanding the "Poisson's Ratio AXIAL/HOOP". I typically always seen...

Glassfiber Reinforced Epoxy Pipe - Poisson's ratio

I got the young's modulus from supplier. I am using transverse isotropic i.e E2=E3 (hoop plane). ANSYS is showing an error in poisson's ratio. I was thinking that poisson's ratio of 0.93 is not correct. but i am not sure. Please suggest. Arline

Glassfiber Reinforced Epoxy Pipe - Poisson's ratio

Hello, I am doing deflection analysis of a pipe using GRE (Glass reinforced epoxy) pipe for which i ahve the following properties @ 21 Deg. C from material supplier Hoop Tensile modulus = 23250 MPa Poisson's ratio axial/hoop = 0.93 Axial Tensile Modulus = 10000 MPa Poisson's ratio...

REACTION FORCE AT NOZZLE END DUE TO BACK PRESSURE

I did the same but i was getting around 360000 lbf which made to think on my calculation. Now i am convinced from your replies that the calculation is okay. Thank your very much for your quick response. Arline

REACTION FORCE AT NOZZLE END DUE TO BACK PRESSURE

Hello, Can somebody help me to find 1) The magnitude of force along discharge(nozzle)pipe axis due to back pressure (assuming the valve is closed in the pipeline). Pump Details : Discahrge Pipe ID : 35.00 inches Operating Pressure : 300 Psi Distance between valve & nozzle end is 150.00...

    Shaft Key Analysis in FEA

Hi, Thanks a lot for your suggestions. Key problem got solved. I did 2D simulation considering key, shaft & coupling, torque as input to the shaft. Contact elements are defined at the interface regions. Again, Thank you all for your support.

    Shaft Key Analysis in FEA

Hi, I have requirement where i need to validate the key (square of 1.25") strength using FEA. This key is between shaft & coupling. I did hand calculations for the key but client insists on FEA validation even though it is safe in hand calculations. Can any one suggest me the...

Force & Moment : Discharge Head with Dresser Coupling

Hi PersianEng, I am using harnessed type of dresser coupling in my design. At the time of fluid back pressure (shut-off conditions) does the nozzle sees only axial (Z-direction) thrust load or will we have any forces & moments in X & Y direction also ? Thanks in advance Prasad

Force & Moment : Discharge Head with Dresser Coupling

What are the forces acts on the discharge head for vertical pump ? The discharge head is not having flange instead it is coupled to piping system through dresser coupling. I would like to know how to calculate the forces exerting on the discharge head due to fluid back pressure (at shut-off...

Natural (reed) Frequency Anaysis - Pump with motor

Hi, I am doing reed frequency (natural frequency) analysis for discharge head (DH) with motor using FEA. DH looks like a hollow cylinder with 0.375" thk. placed between two circular plates (Top and bottom) in vertical position. Motor is resting the top face of the top plate. I used lumped mass...

How to do reed frequency of vertical pump with motor in FEA

How to do reed frequency of vertical pump with motor in FEA. Do i need to consider the motor frequency also while calculating the system (vertical pump and motor) reed frequency ? I have motor data like CG, static deflection and weight. Please help

ASME SECVIII Div.II VS FEA for Pump Shaft Analysis

Hello Friends, 1. Can anybody tell me to what extent the ASME SEC VIII Div.II code stress limits can be used in designing pump solid shaft. My understanding is that ASME code has to be compared only when we design vessels which are shell structures. Am i correct ? 2. Is it correct to...
