    Humidifier MCA / MOP

Also Agreed. Regardless thanks for the answer.

    Humidifier MCA / MOP

wow, a simple 'no' would have been sufficient. Me asking the question meant I did not know the answer. I also said I knew basically nothing about humidifiers. I realize you can only engineer what we 'know' and I was asking if we 'knew' a method to do this. rb: You're answers are very...

    Humidifier MCA / MOP

Shouldnt I/we be able to do engineering work in order to determine what is required? We dont call every manufacturer to determine transformer inrush current etc. Maybe for very specific but general calculations should be available. I'm aware of how to do this for air conditioners and other...

    Humidifier MCA / MOP

Its rated as a 51kW humidifier. Im electrical not mechanical so I dont fully understand what makes it up. I believe there are coils motors etc which all make up the rating. I do not have OEM specs as its not been purchased yet.

    Humidifier MCA / MOP

Im trying to determine the correct MOP for a commerical humidifier. The unit is 51kW. If i go by my standard motor calculations by the tables in the CEC i get an MCA 77Amps and MOP 175Amps. Is a humidifer calculated differently than a regular motor?

    CT Sizing

if you used a 200/5 ct for a 600A service, what would be the secondary output be at 600A? 15? How would you configure your meter for this?
  7. jwparker

    CT Sizing

These CT are used for metering. Interesting post scottf, Im interested in reading more regarding this. Mostly for metering as all of the protection relays have been specified by OEM.

    CT Sizing

80% of the upstream? I have a 600A 100% rated breaker, that would leave 480A at 80%, you're suggesting a size it at 480/5, which I dont belive is available? Im not sure if I follow you.

    CT Sizing

Im curous about CT sizing for a 347/600V service entrance. It being 600A 100% rated, would a 600/5 CT become saturated near the full 600A mark? Would this application require a 800/5 CT instead?

    Computer Receptacles

Is it really necessary for computer recpetacles to have dedicated neutrals? Is it because of switch mode power suplies overloading the neutrals? I cant see it being for power quality..?

    Electrical Room Loop Ground

Yeah, I've seem to run into "refer to IEEE std 2000" alot lately.. :) Unfortuneately I do not have a copy of it.

    Electrical Room Loop Ground

Anyone know the specs on the size of a electrical room loop ground? I cant seem to find the size of bus required. There's around 4000A fault current at 12.47kV. Im thinking its around 50 or 75mm by maybe 5mm copper bus.

    Substation Grounding

its actually located in canada. Im changing from a 5kV pole type transformers which is located indoors in a vault, its being removed and replaced with an enclosed 12kV unit substation. Im doing my best to comply with section 36 of the CEC however from what I'm reading it doesnt appear to...

    Substation Grounding

I was never intending to rely on utility's ground. I was more like intending to rely on the existing building ground currently in place. So one would test the existing ground potential and depending on that ground the substation accordingly.. I realize this IS vague I'm very unsure of correct...

    Substation Grounding

I've also forgot to mention that this is an INDOOR substation.

    Substation Grounding

I forgot to mention that the voltages are 12.47kV to 600V 3ph,4w

    Substation Grounding

I realize this is a multi-directional complicated topic however I'm looking for a 'next step' in my design. The design revolves around replacing some oil-filled pole top transformers with a unit substation. The capacity is increasing from 1100kVA to 2500kVA. We are using a wye-grounded to...

    15kV Fuse

yeah, Im going to get a quote for a sf6 switch vs. fuses. I need to find the number for an actual technical sales rep for some suppliers. I can only seem to find local low voltage reps and online (useless) run-around numbers.

    15kV Fuse

Right, but isnt the RBA-800 an 800Amp fuse holder? Does that not require a 1200A switch?
  20. jwparker

    15kV Fuse

Still havent entirely resolved this issue. Even with double barrel fuses I cannot seem to get a 600A fuse within a 600A switch. I've checked schnider ele and square D with no luck..
