    Fatigue analysis screening criteria - Method B (ASME VIII-II $ 5.5.2.4)

Hello all, In ASME fatigue screening methods, could someone please explain how to find the N[(KfbHc(3S))/2] in the eq. 5.19 ? Does it corresponds to N at [(KfbHc(3S))/2 ] in SN curve of the selected material? Similarly for eq.5.20, whether ΔPN = 2PSas/[KfbHc(3S) ? or if ΔPN is the maximum...

Joint efficiency where 3 welded joints join in

Hello all, we have a situation where the diameter of the header and nozzle are the same. So when we want to weld it together we arrive at a zone there will be atleast 3 welded joints join in. Could anyone tell what would be the joint efficency for such zone? is there any restriction for such...

    ASME - PCHE

Hello all, Could anyone please confirm if heavy wall (R/t<= 4) criteria is applicable while designing micro channels of PCHE? Thanks and regards

Thermal stresses in microchannels - 3-2-1 method

Thanks again. I found the problem. For uniform thermal loading I get VM almost zero and some translation based on the thermal expansion co-eff. This method is the best for my application and thanks again to suggest this !

Thermal stresses in microchannels - 3-2-1 method

Hello Karachun, I have tested 3-2-1 method and the results are quite satisfying. The ideal loading case for the problem I have explained above is applied pressure in all the cavities of both circuits along with the temperature gradient between them. I wanted to check if only with temperature...

Thermal stresses in microchannels - 3-2-1 method

Hello Karachun, Thanks for your reply. Its indeed a great learning for me to learn about this method since I principally work with pressure vessels and always fix the bottom which is not reasonable. I will analyse this in depth. For this model, I am only concerned about the thermal effects on...

Thermal stresses in microchannels - 3-2-1 method

Hello all, I am relatively new and would like to clarify some doubt in analyzing thermal stresses in micro-channels of an heat exchanger. I just consider only a small cross section of the entire model to simplify the model since my interest is only inside the channels. In this case where...

    Rigid element - FEMAP

Thanks a lot for your reply. I checked out your blog, unfortunately its in a language I dont understand. And google doesnt translate everything neither. But still I understand the concept to some extent. Thanks again!

Same mesh on the contact surface

Thanks Blas for your reply. But I am more interested in HEX elements and unfortunately mesh BODIES doesnt have this option and thats the reason I use HEXBODIES which I find very effective. My project contains some 50 plates with some cavities and my point of interest are the few plates in the...

Same mesh on the contact surface

Hello all, I have two different bodies which has to be meshed with different sizes (to reduce the comp cost). But I want to have same mesh on the surface that is shared between the two bodies. I could achieve this by mesh control on the edges, but since these bodies has complex shapes, solid...

    Rigid element - FEMAP

Hello all, I am new here and started working with Femap since 2 months. I am currently analyzing a pressure vessel which is connected to the flange through a nozzle. Since it is a standard flange I dont model flange but apply only the load (imposed by the weight of flange - nozzle loads in asme)...
