The chains, etc., will get beat up over time, so we figured that something completely removable would be better. We could even remove the threaded rod and replace it if we tried hard enough!
The pipe is a safety bollard, so the whole exterior will be painted yellow. Inside is filled with concrete. I bascially have a threaded stainless rod going through both sides of the pipe. On the inside of the pipe, there will be stainless washers and nuts snugged against the inside of the...
OOps, the stainless is 316! The site is not right on the water, but it is probably within 2 miles of it. The stainless threads will corrode, or the steel pipe?
I'm planning on through bolting some stainless chain to some plain steel pipe bollards outside. There will be some stainless parts, washers and shouldered eye-bolts (probably 304) in direct contact with the steel pipe. The whole pipe setup will also be concrete filled.
Will the pipe tend to...
Just wondering if it is helpful to wrap or tar pressure treated lumber when setting them as posts in a concrete or gravel base? i had heard someone say to place a tar shingle between PT lumber and concrete blocks on a shed foundation to prevent moisture wicking and revent accelerated decay.
It's not really a test per se. This is for a garbage plant and all they really need to see are colors in general. Main thing is to pick up if any red bag waste is there (medical waste).
There area is basically a large warehouse with waste dumped on the floor. The operators just need to see...
I know MH lights are preferred for whiter light, but do any of the newer "white" sodium lights perform decently in color for high-bay lighting? I don't need an absolute perfect color recognition. I mainly need to distinguish red from other colors.
Any general guidelines for cost savings...
Any problems welding a plain steel pipe knee brace to a ductil iron pipe system? Any galvanic reaction, etc.? Should I just use a DI knee brace and not worry?
Any tips on hose type to use for an overhead gantry filling a tanker truck with leachate? Gantry is fixed, so the last 6 feet or so needs to be flexible for the tanker to drive under. Pipe feeding will be 4".
I got a quote on some composite chemical hose with SS wire spiral reinforcement, and...
I've read where mixing aluminum with concrete is a bad idea. Is bolting an aluminum base plate directly to concrete paving a poor choice? Would painting the bottom of the plate suffice?
Trying to find the right formula for calculating flow (gpm) out of a nozzle to atmosphere with only knowing pipe pressure and nozzle orifice diameter? This seems like it would be simple, but it's been over 20-yrs since I took fluids!
Specifics are: water in 1/2" OD PVC tubing flowing through...
