    Cracking of welds posssibly

We have SS tank ( 316 L ) that we think leaked where we welded it - the material going into the tank was at 200 F - could we have thermal shocked it - is this possible - is 200 F too hot - what do we do to prevent this in future? The tank is vertical hold capacity of 5700 gallons - leak is at...

how to cal heat loss due to low excess air in coal burner

The few rotary kilns I have seen have a sight glass or some type of camera to see the flame. The bluer the flame the better. Check also the exhaust gases to see if their is any extra oxygen out the stack.

    Reduce Nitrogen Usage

What ways are they to reduce the nitrogen usage? 1. We cannot put in an air compressor to take the place of nitrogen cause we want to avoid mishaps. 2. We have a nitrogen membrane unit with liquid backup and the costs are way too high and we have many years beofre we can get out. 3. We use...

    Constant Purge of vessels

What is the norm for purging vessels while in operation? We typically keep a constant purge of 50 scfh ( 70 acfh) of nitrogen on at all times no matter what size of reactor we have and they vary from 500 gallon to 4000 gallon. We still purge the vessels with a presure purge before chemicals...

    Volume of gas in vessel

I am stumped or forgot to to do a calculation - if I have a 1000 gallon under zero pressure ( atmosheric) - I have about 133 cf of air ( 7.5 gallons per CF).. but if I pressurze that vessel with air, then I will have more air in the vessel but I forgot how to figure that volume out..... please...
