    Large variation in Charpy impact test results

    Without going into detail, is it normal for a high tensile steel (over 80,000 psi) to have a large variation of charpy impact test results of, ie - 10 to 120 ft-lbs?

    Heat number identification on steels plates

    Thanks for the reply. That is the problem, I do not have the Mill test reports. I agree that the 75 could be the year. The plate TC 128 GRB is a special plate used in the railcar tank building industry. I am just trying to find out what the code markings mean.

    I have seen general dimensions for 1-1/2" 3000# SS threaded pipe unions with both the male and female ends with round ends. Has anyone seen general dimensions for the same fitting but with Hex ends and what the dimenions of the Hex would be? Thanks
