I'm running Solidworks 2006 and all my dimensions are showing the character text, not the actual character/symbol. It was working fine, then everything converted over. I'm definately not mistakenly typing in the wrong text string for the symbol. It was almost like I toggled from "Display...
Are all the elements in the top level assembly fully constrained or are some unconstrained to allow you to open and close the assembly? Do you have any features in the top level assembly?
In addition to angle and tanget mates sometimes wanting to behave like you've inverted the mate (on their...
I have to agree with Chris on this one. Every standard I've encounterd had one part or assembly per drawing. Generally you want the fewest sheets possible to identify the part. Tooling assemblies tend to be the exception since both the toolroom and production generally only refer to the...
I can't explain exactly why, but the print setting doesn't appear to override the text. This might depend on the printer and/or drivers used (which may vary from one machine to the next). The safest bet is to use the options setting.
As a rule I try to avoid having views at different scales (especially since there is no way to label it!), except for this isometric view. We just have a few parts that are complex in one view and very simple in the other two. Also, we try to keep the sheet size to a minimum but that's a...
Mark aka Sporkman, I agree with your comments on 'unpredictable' behaviour often being linked to the sketches and feature selections themselves. I just can't always get it to work if I have a pattern of the same feature to get SW to count the occurences. From some of the other posts, perhaps...
These might be pretty basic questions, but I just can't seem to find a way around them.
First of all, is there a way to add a label to a standard view (not a section, detail or auxiallary view) that includes the view scale? For instance if you were to want the front view at 4:1 while the right...
No, the global variable should be the same for all configurations. Each configuration is simply a difference of which combinations of the features that use the variable are suppressed or unsuppressed.
Could it be that suppressing a feature is the problem? I'm not suppressing the sketch that...
I've just been clicking link values. There are roughly 25 features that use the same value. I was hoping to avoid extra equations when I thought the link value should work.
I'm working on a part file that I've attempted to link dimensions to a global variable. This part has multiple configurations which simply suppress or unsuppress features as needed. I can linked values to the variable, but the links disappear when the model rebuilds. I've been able to link...
