Linked Values won't remain linked

I'm working on a part file that I've attempted to link dimensions to a global variable. This part has multiple configurations which simply suppress or unsuppress features as needed. I can linked values to the variable, but the links disappear when the model rebuilds. I've been able to link values within a configuration, but the other configurations do not retain the link. When I link the value in one of the other configurations the original configuration that I started with looses its link.

Any suggestions? Are the limitiations, parameters or settings to linking to a global variable?

How are you linking the variable? Are you using a equation or clicking link values? You may have to use an equation?

I've just been clicking link values. There are roughly 25 features that use the same value. I was hoping to avoid extra equations when I thought the link value should work.

A Design Table can be used to link dimensions also, & when dealing with configs is the best way to go.

Does the global variable change value between configurations?

No, the global variable should be the same for all configurations. Each configuration is simply a difference of which combinations of the features that use the variable are suppressed or unsuppressed.

Could it be that suppressing a feature is the problem? I'm not suppressing the sketch that contains the variable, only the feature (a cut revolve) that uses the sketch. Also, I should mention that 24 of the features use a derived sketch with the global variable used to positon the derived sketch as well as the original.

I considered using equations, but that just seems like an extra step. Linking values would intuitively seem to do the same thing, but I could be wrong. I would use the design table, but again that would seem like an extra step. I was using the design table to direct which features are suppressed or unsuppressed.

Is this the only file you have that does this? Have you tried making a quick test file and see if you can duplicate the problem?
