Hi L K,
Thanks for the response.
I think splitting the faces may be the best solution to this. I was hoping that I could get a single plot or graph which would show the distribution rather than having to have several/many different force reactions.
In terms of integrating the surface stresses...
Hi Folks,
I am using ANSYS Mechanical and have a question regarding force reactions. Is there a way to plot how a force is distributed over a fixed support?
To give a bit of background to my specific problem, I work for a Naval Architect consultancy and I am designing a transit cradle...
Hey guys,
Thanks for the responses. It's greatly appreciated.
We pull tested each pad-eye (of four) to 15 tonnes which was essentially the 8.76 tonnes with a 1.75 safety factor on top.
Cheers,
Ian
Hi Folks,
Thanks for the responses.
Chicopee, I think I am confused also!
I have taken the SWL load to basically mean the maximum load that the pad-eye is designed to take (this may be incorrect). This is the dead weight * a skew factor * dynamic amplification factor * environmental loading...
Hi Folks,
I am unsure as to what weight I should stamp a S.W.L. on a pad-eye.
It is designed to hold a dead weight of 5 tonnes however when addition factors are added (skew loads, dynamic loads etc.) this rises to 8.76 tonnes. I'm not sure whether I should have the former or the latter...
Hello Everyone,
I am relatively new to the world of ANSYS (I just started a graduate scheme this year as a tidal energy engineer). I have spent the most of my ANSYS experience using ANSYS Mechanical but I'm just starting to use the other tools the package has to offer also. I wish to set up an...
Also, this is an image with one panel supressed. The green face is the one which I wish to make the frictional contact with, however I can't find the way to do it!http://files.engineering.com/getfile.aspx?folder=80355686-c67b-478e-98a8-bc5d5588365e&file=desired_contact_face.jpg
PS,
The loads are hydrostatic pressure loads. The panels are at different depths and therefore I would expect different deformation from the two and hence 'slip' between them in the middle.
Hi Flash,
Thanks very much for the reply.
It seems like you have a decent grasp of what I am attempting to do but I have attached an image nonetheless. This shows the deformation results I am getting. The model has 6 steel 'stools' upon which are mounted two panels which are separate bodies...
Hello Everyone,
I have an issue in a static structural analysis. I am designing a structure which is to be manufactured from many similar plates closely fitted together. I have drawn this within the CAD package that I use with the edges of each plate being coincident with the next one. Now...
Hi all,
I am having issues with a hydrostatic analysis I am conducting using ANSYS Structural. My geometry consists of several parts which are all constructed out of surfaces. These surfaces are then interconnected using a variety of mesh connections and contact regions. However when trying to...
Hi all,
I am relatively new to ANSYS and I have version 14.5. Whilst trying to conduct a Static Structural analysis on a fairly large (c.30,000 elements) structure I am receiving an error which suggests using the ENORM command which is apparently found under PREP7 command heading??? I'm a...
