I believe you are refering to GE using truck tire inner tubes for corona rings which I had heard of as well.
As far as flexible air duct I dont think the surface is smooth enough without testing the material. Unfortunately I have a customer that wants to purchase the corona rings assemblies...

Anyone know a company capable of making large corona rings. We are looking for 8"ODx.25wall tubing made into 44"OD rings. We are looking to purchase 18 of these and I cant find anyone willing to make them for us. Any help appreciated.
