I have a ProMech model that seems to give me the same displacement at several grid refinements, but gives quite drastically varying peak stresses. The stresses are linked to point features, but the behaviour of the model at these points is of interest for the results.
I get the feeling that I...
You can turn off the grouping of similar windows under one task bar button by right clicking on the task bar, selecting properties and unclicking the 'Group Similar Taskbar Buttons' option. Every window will get a seperate button once this is done.
Is it possible to get ProMechanica WF2 to calculate the average temperature of a surface in a thermal model? I'm trying to extract an equivalent thermal conductivity for a multi-material model (Standard resistance network techniques aren't valid as there is side conduction as well as parallel...
2001 does have this option, I've used it several times.
Assembly -> Component -> Adv Utils -> Cut out are the menu options as far as I remember.
I'm not sure what you mean by the components becoming packaged though. You should be able to asemble them together, make the cut and then open the...
One thing I've had to do to get parts CNC'd is to export a number of igs files with various export options turned on (Solids, surfaces only, quilts (For the particular CNC system I was dealing with I had to create a quilt that copied the surfaces of the solid I needed to get machined) etc.) send...
If your initial part is a solid then just make an assembly into which you place the part with the cavity. Make another part big enough to more than fill the cavity and assemble that to intersect with the part you've got.
Use Edit --> Component Operations --> Cut Out to cut away all the...
I ProE 2001 has a 'data from file' option instead. However this only imports .sec, .igs, .dwg and .drw files, so the only way is to import points offset from a coordinate system at part level.
Also, the .pts file can be tab or space delimited and doesn't need to conatin any text other than the...
I've had a similar problem with ProE and Windows XP.
I had a node locked licence and ProE worked perfectly while the computer was plugged into a network. When the network was unplugged and ProE was started/running ProE shut down giving a licence error.
There's a registry modification here to...
You should be able to get Excel to tell you what cell to look for by building the cell reference from the offset value using the formula =C3&C4, where C3 is the column letter and C4 is the row number. I can't use this in further formulae as anything more than text though :-(
I get an error in...
Use Format --> conditional formatting to check for cells that equal the max value (Which you already have in a known cell).
Procedure is: Select the column/cells you want to search
Select Format --> conditional formatting, setting the condition to 'equals' and pick the cell with the...
If you don't want a rectangular image on the surface, you can upload an alpha channel picture as well as the image. The alpha channel picture is the same size as the picture file, but has a white area for the sections of the image you want transferred and a black area for parts of the image you...
I'd better qualify that answer - rereading your post I may have misinterpreted it.
What ProMech will do is treat the materials as springs of stiffness equal to the youngs modulus. If the yield stress of the part is exceeded, ProMech will not model the plastic deformation (Elastic deformation...
Holding down the right mouse button once you've selected the new vertex should give you the start point option on the pop up menu. You will get errors if the start point is not the end of a line segment for open sketches though.
One thing I can't work out is how to change the direction of the...
Can someone help with the following error message for ANSYS/LS-DYNA?
Bearing in mind that: I have 1GB of memory. I increased it yesterday from 512MB and the error message has not changed. I have also tried changing the memory settings, reducing the database memory and increasing the total...
Just read my post... It should be ctrl + g to make construction lines. ctrl + r redraws the sketch while you're in sketcher mode. Sorry to anyone who tried making construction lines with ctrl + r [blush].
A quicker way to change lines to construction is to use Ctrl+r instead of the right click menu (Works in 2001, I don't know whether it's carried over to Wildfire). I don't recall ever having a problem with changing lines to construction lines though. Hope you find the solution.
I'm wondering how the colours are associated with parts in ProE 2001 assemblies? - I'm asking because I have the following problem:
When I draw a part and assign it a colour it remains that colour.
When I assemble the part to an assembly it is uploaded with the assigned colour.
When I change...
Thank you very much for that posting. I'm finally happy with my calculations. Turns out I was doing them correctly all along :-).
My peace of mind has earned you a star anyway.
The data I have for an inlet loss is as follows (From Engineering Tables and Data by Howatson, Lund and Todd):
A2/A1 KL
0.1 0.37
0.2 0.35
0.4 0.27
0.6 0.17
0.8 0.06
0.9 0.02
Does this look like it uses the velocity in the A2 (Smaller area) or A1 (Bigger initial...
