Coating Systems vs Cathodic Protection For Buried Carbon Steel Pipes (< 60 degrees Celsius)

brimmer - Thanks for your reply. There is actually a CP system in place and the fire water system will tie into it. I just wanted to know if CP wasn't compulsory for all buried pipes, depending on soil composition, type of coating or any other consideration. Apparently, there isn't (based on...

Coating Systems vs Cathodic Protection For Buried Carbon Steel Pipes (< 60 degrees Celsius)

Hi All, I'm faced with a little issue and i'm really hoping you guys will enlighten me. I've designed and routed an underground water pipe system (fire ring main) for a gas handling facility. A 10" header at 600mm from top of pipe to the finished ground level, distributes water to all the...

Anchor Restraint On Flanges (Caesar II)

Saplanti, there are no doubts anymore. I got much more than I asked. Thanks guys.....

Anchor Restraint On Flanges (Caesar II)

@saplanti... see attached isometrics for your info. C2it was right when he said ..."An 'anchor' is defined at the flange face, but not connected to ground, instead connected to the adjacent element with a Cnode. The internal loads then appear in the 'Restraints Summary' like other anchors. The...

Anchor Restraint On Flanges (Caesar II)

Sirs, Please lets avoid these kinda discussions. The fact remains that there was a question, and it has been successfully answered by you guys. Thanks for your inputs guys; they have been really helpful.

Anchor Restraint On Flanges (Caesar II)

C2it, thanks a bunch. I just rechecked the model and noticed that it is actually connected to the adjacent element with a "Cnode". This just clarified my initial confusion.

Anchor Restraint On Flanges (Caesar II)

Hmnnn, Learnt alot already. Pennpiper, that anchor flange seems to make a whole lot of sense. Thanks

Anchor Restraint On Flanges (Caesar II)

Apparently its an anchor, its clearly specified on the "classic piping input" portal. Thanks for clarifying.

Anchor Restraint On Flanges (Caesar II)

Hi everyone, I've been going through some Caesar II model to profound solution(s) to the failing pipe. Going through most of the existing models I noticed that an anchor type restraint was placed in-between connecting weld neck flanges. This was repetitive in all the models I checked. Generally...

Difference between Jacketed piping and Insulated piping system

Thanks. You guys have so helpful. However it seem to me that HDPE (high density polyethylene) is used in both cases. Are there material specification differences for both the pipe jacket and the insulation material?

Difference between Jacketed piping and Insulated piping system

Hi, Generally my idea of a jacketed piping system is one protected by an insulating cover. Typically used for the transportation of hot steam or hot water, a jacketed pipe maintains the temperature of the material flowing through it. The jacketed pipe used in large pipelines prevents the harsh...

ASME VIII UG-22 Clarity for a Engineering Intern

I would think that is because, the design is done with respect to a given pressure (design pressure). That pressure (considerably higher than the operating pressure) caters for the weight of the liquid. The weight of the liquid (water) over a given area , results in PRESSURE exerted on the...

EN 12285-2 for pressure vessel design

Hi, Im a mechanical/piping engineer, and im used to ASME sec VIII div1 for design. Ive been asked however, to design a diesel storage tank, using "EN 12285-2". Ive got no idea what-so-ever where to start from, as all my previous vessel designs have been based on ASME sec VII div 1. Help urgently...

RECOMMENDED EBOOKS FOR A WANNA BE PRESSURE VESSEL DESIGNER

Hi. I'd need recommendations (books, videos etc) that i can look up to have an in-depth knowledge of pressure vessel design.
