    graphite crucible stopper

I'm curious to know more about the graphite crucibles with those spouts at the bottom of the crucible with a graphite rod as a stopper. I know that they are used mostly for casting rare metals. Thus they come pretty small. I would like to use them in a larger application. Is there any video or...

    Gtx vs quadro

Thanks guys! I ended up sending my boss multiple links to posts around the internet boasting the importance of the quardo. He hasn't brought up the laptop convo since. (small win for me!) I called LPC-digital and they're expected to have the updated line of quadro cards available within the...

    Gtx vs quadro

So this hasn't been brought up in a while, so... I'm looking for a new mobile workstation. I have been going back and forth with my boss on the expense of a quadro card. I've seen through across the internet that the gtx cards aren't compatible (or as compatible as the quadro). Though, I have...

    Press fitting neodymium magnets`

The max temp on Nd magnets is 80C. I know it's not constant heat but I would assume that kind of immediate heat cant be good.

    Press fitting neodymium magnets`

correct. It is a .080 in plate with a .2 in L magnet centered on each other. I think I have this figured out. I'll get back to this post when I have more made in a different way.

    Press fitting neodymium magnets`

umm now that's actually a good idea. I'll look into that. thanks. Here's some samples that I've tried out. The cylinder was just epoxy-ed in and the other was press fit.

    Press fitting neodymium magnets`

The thing is I'm not hell bent on it. I'm under pressure from the high echelon to get this solved by way of press fit without any bells or whistles. I'm just going to do it. I just ordered a ranged index of drill bits sizes (D-F), a ton of magnets, and get to it. Ill have to spec each magnet...

    Press fitting neodymium magnets`

I already looked into those. https://www.magnetics.com/product.asp?ProductID=42 They are impressive. But maybe a little over engineering the problem. It would definitely be the easiest fix. I think I'm just going to go for it in my second phase of prototyping. I'll get pictures of what I have...

    Press fitting neodymium magnets`

The application is consumer level. As novelty as those cheap flashlights with the magnets in them. One of the fittings involves pushing .250in magnet through a 2mm/.080in anodized aluminium plate. So adhesives aren't the best option there. I've already read though this thread...

    Press fitting neodymium magnets`

Hello all, I got a couple of projects that would call for press fitting some neodymium magnets into anodized aluminium. I've talked to K & J magnetics and they obviously don't recommend it. But I see press fit magnets everywhere, specially anodized aluminium. They're almost a given on any...

    Virtual Components

virtual parts/assems are parts that are saved with in that assembly (there is no external file associated with that part). I use virtual parts only to put in some mock substrate or meaningless reference part. I Always save out my official parts in the assem. To make a virtual part no longer...
