Thanks everyone. These are all great suggestions, I have thought about a ph test. This discoloration will show up on maybe 2 parts. Then maybe again 2 months later. On random machines. 25 years experience in aluminum die casting

The discoloration is kinda a brownish colored tint, maybe a tarnished look. If I scratch it with a knife blade, it is shiny underneath, so it is on...

    K mold testing

Thanks for your response. I will look for permcoat. In the past I could pour 20 samples, no problem. Now I can only pour 10 or 12 and my mold is too hot, using the graphite spray. I wonder is there some type of ladle coating I can use? Jerry Davis, 25 years experience in aluminum die casting

    K mold testing

Does anyone know what I can use to coat a k mold. In the past I used a certain type of graphite, it worked great but I don't know where to get it. Currently I am using a dry graphite from a spray can, this not working too well. The mold is getting too hot and my samples have heat shrinkage.
