Earth fill and Compaction under a Septic Leach field

I need to place about ten feet of fill to bring the site up to grade and install a septic leach field. Are any specific compaction requirements/procedures for the backfills under aleach field?

Stormwater Drainage design for Cloud Bursts

Thank you Peter and Cvg for you input I need to develop a rainfall distribution for this evaluation. Here is some information on the problem This is landfill site with stormwater swales along the slopes that collect water along slopes and carry to a downchute. The swales were designed for 25...

Stormwater Drainage design for Cloud Bursts

I need to evaluate a drainage system for the capacity to capture and convey stormwater runoff from cloud bursts. Is there any guidance available on what storm frequency and duration we should use to capture intensity and volume from a typical cloud burst. Zahid

    Nuisance Flooding of Roadway Intersection

Thank you gbam and FacEngr for the valuable information The project's jurisdiction has very similar storm event design criteria as in FacEngr's post. I am still trying to figure out the duration part. here is some more information on the project The intersection is located at the downstream end...

    Nuisance Flooding of Roadway Intersection

I am working on mitigating the flooding of a roadway intersection. The area is highly urbanized. Is there any guidance as to what storm event and/or storm duration to use for designing mitigation measures?

Storm Drainage on steep slope in northern California

If you are using the Mannings equation to design your pipes and ditches, be aware, at 40 or 50 PC slopes, you are outside the intended range for this equation. I would suggest oversizing the channel or pipes, maybe design for 50 to 60% of full capacity.

Modeling drainage subarea CN with split pervious and impervious areas in HydroCAD

I am computing peak runoff from a development site using HydroCAD. The New Jersey code has the following requirement "In computing stormwater runoff from all design storms, the design engineer shall consider the relative stormwater runoff rates and/or volumes of pervious and impervious...

Foundation and Finished Floor Elevation on Sloped Ground

The Foundation wall is not only above but also above the finished floor. In a typical construction here, the wooden floor joist sits above the foundation wall, but in this case, the foundation wall is above floor level. How do we attach the wood flooring system to the foundation wall?

Hydraulic Capacity of Back pitched pipes

I am working on determining the carrying capacity of an old brick storm sewer system. Some of the segments in the system have sagged over the years resulting back pitched pipe runs. Manning formula does not work with negative slopes. Any ideas?
