    Shrink Fits/Freezing

If you want a co2 tank to dispense liquid, get one with a siphon tube inside. We have one for filling painball gun tanks with. We get it from a welders supply. Ben Englund

    Shrink Fits/Freezing

Why can't you just get co2 from the oxy supply? Also I believe I saw someplace that you can buy a little thing to hook up to your co2 tank and make dry ice. Ben Englund

    old gasoline

How about diesel fuel? I know it gells, but can it be stored for years and still used? Also will nonoxygenated gasoline last longer than regular gasoline? thanks Ben Englund

    hp rating of Dc motor

Thanks guys Rmastro, Thanks for your information, I'll definately use it. I would be using the variable speed drivers originally for the motors. I was just wondering about the horsepower numbers. I guess I should have thought about the load on the motor. It makes sense to me now. Thanks...

hmm..... thanks guys. So I guess storing gasoline for decades is out..... Ben Englund

    old gasoline

I figured this would be the best place to ask this(these) question which I have pondered so often. Why does gasoline go bad? Also can it be reversed? How long is it recommended to keep gasoline? What do products like Stabil do and how long do they extend the life of the gasoline? Thanks in...

    hp rating of Dc motor

I just looked at some new treadmills. Some seem to have two ratings on them like 2.5tHP and 1.5cHP on one machine. I assume that the cHP would be common horse power and tHP would be treadmill horsepower. So would I take 40% or so off the treadmill rating for the actual HP rating? Would it...

    hp rating of Dc motor

I've got some variable speed dc motors from treadmills that I'd like to use in some projects. I've been told that the hp ratings on treadmill motors was not the same as ratings on regular motors. Is this true? If so why? What is the conversion factor if one exists? Thanks for your help...

feeding the grid and net metering

I posted a while back about private consumers producing electricity and feeding excess back to the grid. I was told that this does not cause your meter to spin backwards. I have since learned that most states have "net metering" in which your excess electricity IS fed back through your meter...

    proper generator hookup

THANKS GUYS it sounds like I'll have to look into transfer switches and purchase the nesassery equipment. You guys have been very helpful. According to the solar4power website that aegcmac posted, we might be able to do it for 100 bucks or so. It seems common practice around here to hook up...

    proper generator hookup

I posted a topic last week about hooking up a small generator for emergency use. I asked about meters turning backwards and syncronizing to line. I recieved some nice responses telling me the meter cannot run backwards and that the generator usually synchronizes itself to the line. I also...

    ac capacitor VS run capacitor

Thanks for the information, it probably is the bearings. Ben Englund

    ac capacitor VS run capacitor

Could it still turn freely when not powered if the bearings were shot? I am positive the capacitor was bad, could bad bearings cause the cap to fail? Or maybe a coincidence? Whould I notice the slop in the shaft by wobbling it by hand?(have not checked that) If I oil it will that help to...

    ac capacitor VS run capacitor

Thanks Jbartos for those great links. I really like the capacitor test circuit, its a good idea. Ben Englund

    ac capacitor VS run capacitor

I just plugged the cord into the wall. It is in the same wall socket as a computer which works fine even with the motor plugged in too, so the line voltage should be fine. There seems to be no smell. With the power off I spin it by hand and it continued for another rotation or two, so I don't...

    ac capacitor VS run capacitor

I was hoping people would respond to the other post with the more appropriate name. I posted this one first before I tried the other capacitor..... I have no idea if the thermal protection is okay or not. I seem to get a low resistance reading from one coil and a high one(like 500ohms can't...

    Motor buzz

I have a motor which buzzes and turns slowly. It had a bad capacitor which I replaced with a very old one of the same capacitance and tests good(not shorted or open) except I cannot test the leakage current and don't know what it should be. Would a capacitor with too high leakage cause this...
