Hi all,
Just a couple of quick questions about drilling cycles.
Firstly, is it ok to change datum offset during the cycle? See below, using G57, G58 & G59:
G90 G57 G0 X-8.573 Y4.95 S3262
G43 Z50. H127 M8
G99 G82 R1. Z-1.55 F15. P500
G58 X-4.95 Y-8.574
G59 X8.574 Y-4.95
G0 Z50.
Secondly, am I...
Thanks for the replies.
I see what you mean about it being a bad callout and, Powerhound, your description of a boss measuring 34.030 having to be positioned perfectly, makes sense.
As the note on my drawing says 'with a concentricity of 0.000 in minimum and maximum metal conditions' does that...
Hello all.
I've not had much to do with drawings that contain GD&T up until now, just because of the standard of drawings that we get, and I was after a bit of assistance interpreting a feature.
In the sketch you can see two diameters, the larger one being datum A and the smaller one with a...
Hi Tomas,
I'm sure they'll put me on a Siemens Upgrade course if it's needed.
I've used the What's New Guide before and that's the sort of thing I was after.
Unfortunately I wont be able to look at that until I get to the new company and I was hoping to get a headstart on it!
Where I am at the...
Hi all,
I currently use NX6 (mostly for CAM but a little modelling and drafting) but will soon be starting a new job where they use NX7.5. I'm sure I'll be getting some training or guidance on what the differences are when I start but I was hoping to do a bit of homework before then.
Does...
Hi Zinov,
At the moment it would just be a database to manage tools, toolholders as at the currently it's a case of going and having a look in the back of the machine or on the shelf to see what we have/what is free. We may eventually want to be and enable the creation of tool lists for each...
Hi all,
We currently don't have any formal systems in place to keep track of our tools and backends in our milling workshop. Mainly because it's just never been done and it wasn't too much of a problem in the past, but now we are starting to acquire more and more tools I think it is time to get...

Hi all,
Does anybody have any experience of using a system like RFID tags in order to track/keep stock inventory of backends and cutter bodies.
I've been asked to look into this but have not had any experience of it.
One thought was pull studs with RFID tags in, not sure if they exist though...
