Hi everyone,
I'm trying to create transition mesh like this in the picture, (please see the picture through the following link)

I have used sweep mesh and transition mesh for the...
Hi DanStro,
Thank you for helping.
Do you mean the force unit is still N? But I think the unit for force is kg*nm/s^2 = 10^-9 N now, so stress unit is 10^-9 N/(nm^2) = 10^9 Pa = GPa, isn't it?
Dear all,
In my model I choose the units based on "kg--mass, nm--length, s--time",
so other units are
density--kg/nm^3
stress--GPa
conductivity--"10^-18 W/nm K"
specific heat--"10^-18 J/kg K"
Are these consistent?
Thank you!
I've followed the suggestion after this warning message to change the kinematic contact to the penalty contact, this warning is gone, and no error happened, but the weird mesh change thing is still there. I believe this is not correct. But I don't know what causes this.
Here are the two captures. Thanks!https://www.dropbox.com/s/1soa13m53ivor8s/original%20mesh.PNG https://www.dropbox.com/s/w5bm2y6p6lesnb3/mesh%20after%20simulation.PNG
I created a rigid body and a deformable plate. I fixed the rigid body and applied velocity on the deformable plate. A dynamic temp-disp explicit step was used for the simulation. In the contact property I specified friction coefficient and heat generation. And I used contact pair interaction...
Hi everyone,
I'm trying to do a contact simulation between a rigid body and a deformable plate. I used contact pair interaction. The job failed in the middle. I checked the .odb file, the plate didn't deform a lot, while the mesh changed a lot (I'm not sure if it's correct to describe it like...
Hi everyone,
I'm trying to analyze frictional heat generation between two surfaces. I realized that if I use general contact, there is no temperature change at all, but if I use contact pair, there is temperature change. Is frictional heat generation simulation only possible with contact pair...
IceBreakerSours,
I'm doing a simulation that a sphere is sliding on a plate while penetrating to it. The plate is moving on the sliding direction, and the sphere is moving on the penetration direction, so I specified these two perpendicular velocities on them, respectively. The units for the...
Hi IceBreakerSours,
The warning message that the mass of xxx is less than xxx, is the one I haven't seen before. I checked the units, it should be correct because I used it in the micro scale simulation.
Hi everyone,
Is abaqus available for simulation of nano scale structure contact? I did run micro scale structure contact successfully, but when I created the geometry at 10^-3 scale level of the previous one, and kept the units system the same (so it is supposed to be nano scale), I saw a...
Hi IceBreakerSours. There are some warnings related to output request. And one warning is "Some nodes in the general contact domain are part of a sliding or eulerian boundary region. These nodes will be made lagrangian". But I saw this one before in previous simulations, I don't think this is...
Hi everyone,
I'm trying to do a simulation that a sphere slides on a plate, and meanwhile it moves toward the plate surface (like penetrating into the plate). However, it always fails at the beginning because of excessively distortion. After I improved the mesh quality, it can process further...
Hi sdebock,
Thank you! It's explicit, the number of element is about several thousand, and the input file is only about 1M. But it will take one week according to what is done even on the cluster using 12 CPUs. I had some other simulations on the cluster before, the number of element was...
Hi everyone,
I'm running a simulation, whose mesh size is big and the element number is small. But it still takes a lot of time. Could it be due to the poor mesh quality of some regions? I didn't request data output very frequently.
Hi everyone,
I'm doing a simulation that a particle slides on a plane. The particle is a small part of a sphere, and its height is very small compared to the radius of the sphere. So it looks very flat. When I try to make very fine mesh, there are always some regions that can't been meshed, or...
Hi everyone,
I'm wondering if I can run a simulation with adiabatic option in the dynamic, temp-disp, explicit step. I don't see the adiabatic option when I create the step. And I tried to type it in the input file, but it doesn't work. Does anyone have the experience on this? Thank you!
