The pressures are gauge. This application is a SAGD injection and I think that we need to desuperheat the steam before injecting. We can't bring the pressure too low but at this rate we are not getting much heat.
We have a frozen vent line containing steam vapour operating at about 15 psig.I wouuld like to add a drain valve that has to be a new fitting. It is the casing gas line off of an oil well.
Do I need to hydro the whole line due to the addition of this new drain line. The drain will drain to...
I agree with what you say .I would prefer to leave the lines open and bring the boiler up at a drum metal rate of 100 f /hour.This is what I have always done in the past.
Some of the people at my new position say they never did this and instead just turned off the gas when pressure climbed too...
I have worked many years on drum watertube boilers with superheaters. We always started a boiler with the superheater drains and vents open. The drum vent was initially open and then closed at about 25psig.I now work with a boiler that does not have a superheater..We start it with the drum vent...

Water tube D type 220,000 # per hour gas fired. Not yet fired but wishing to prevent any problems. What test is most reliable to predict/prevent oil from entering feedwater?
Do you have to take the boiler down to flush it or do you just have to keep blowing it down until oil has been removed? Is there treatment that can be added quickly to prevent fouling of the tubes?
