Dishwasher Make-up Air from Basement Carpark

Thanks everyone for your valuable comments. No code allow us to take the make-up air from car park to the Dishwasher area. The possibility of considering scrubber chemical filter is a very expensive option and may not be acceptable to the authorities. So I am not considering this option anymore.

Dishwasher Make-up Air from Basement Carpark

@HVAC-Novice: Being a professional engineer, I still come across few challenges where I need expert opinion from other professionals who already came across such case study and successfully resolved it. Here we are only discussing about fresh air intake but not exhaust.

Dishwasher Make-up Air from Basement Carpark

Fortunately, we need to operate this facility only for one month and we don't have any problem to replace it twice in a month.

Dishwasher Make-up Air from Basement Carpark

In our current project, We have no option left to take make-up air for the dishwasher area except from basement carpark but due to the toxic chemicals (carbon monoxide) contained in vehicle exhaust system, we cannot directly take make-up air. I would like to know if there is any possibility to...

Sound Attenuators on Ecology Units Exhaust Dcutwork

Thanks, everybody for your valuable comments. I do agree with energy professional to use silencers without any media. Therefore, I would also prefer selecting the attenuators that do not contain any media to avoid grease-related accumulations. Rather, such silencers rely on tuned chambers that...

Sound Attenuators on Ecology Units Exhaust Dcutwork

In my current kitchen ventilation design, I did not propose any sound attenuators on the ecology units' exhaust ductwork because grease is present in the exhaust air, this grease can build up in the sound attenuators and cause a fire hazard. In this situation, a different noise mitigation...

    Slide Surface Cooling Calculations

A metallic spiral slide (see attachment) is being constructed in the water park where children can play in the slide which is located in the water feature pond. This park is located in Dubai where ambient conditions are extremely hot and humid in the summer. To prevent hot metallic surfaces to...

Run-off Coefficient for Perforated Piping network below the Softscape

I am calculating the stormwater holding tank capacity for a large park. I need help in considering the run-off coefficient in this case. The stormwater after percolating the soft scape/soil will enter into a perforated piping network which is provided below the soil layer. Eventually, all this...

Chilled water riser Open loop or closed loop?

Pressure break heat exchangers are needed for high rise towers to minimize the casing pressure of chilled water pumps and also pressure rating of chillers, condensers and valves. The maximum pressure rating of chillers and condensers available in the market is up to 20 bar. the pressure rating...

Expansion tank Volume Calculations for High Rise Building by Considering P1 & P2 Pressure Values

@Danschwind...thanks for your input. @LittleInch..The chilled water pressure has already increased to 263 psia mainly due to maximum static height of 120 m and fill pressure but standard HVAC components are generally not compatible with such max. pressure rating. So either we need to increase...

Expansion tank Volume Calculations for High Rise Building by Considering P1 & P2 Pressure Values

@LittleInch thanks for your valuable response. In case if expansion tank cannot be relocated to upper floors, The maximum pressure (P2) will be much higher than required. In my case, P1 = static height + fill pressure = 185 psia P2 = P1 + pump head = 185 + 78 = 263 psia Above 263 psia...

Expansion tank Volume Calculations for High Rise Building by Considering P1 & P2 Pressure Values

I am currently doing calculations for the expansion tank of high rise tower. The chiller plant and associated expansion tank is located on ground floor. The expansion tank is located to the suction side of secondary chilled water pumps at ground floor. The highest level of piping in the system...

Requirement of Insulation on Drainage piping Due to Condensate Drain

It seems it did not provide any clear explanation about actual issue. Condensate drain coming out of the fan coil unit will go the floor drain through condensate drain piping which is already insulated. From floor drain, it goes to the horizontal waste drainage pipe and finally goes down through...

Requirement of Insulation on Drainage piping Due to Condensate Drain

I am currently working on hotel tower and our client is insisting to provide insulation on drainage piping to avoid possible condensation due to condensate drain. As per project specifications, the condensate drain pipe to be connected to the nearest floor drain. It is to be noted that...

Requirement of Fire Rated Volume Damper and Non return Damper in Car park Smoke Ventilation Ductwork

In car park ventilation system, there are 2 main supply fans connected in parallel through duct work. Both fans are duty fans as per our authority requirements. If any fan fails, there may be possibility back flow of air from another fan. if NRDs are not provided, whole car park ventilation...
